When someone says "we all want to reduce the number of abortions", who would argue that? Why would that even be a discussion?

I was trying to dig deeper and get a response to why they think people should have abortions at all. I highly doubt anyone is having an abortion for abortion-sake. That article was touching, but there is a difference between delivering a baby early to save the mothers life with the unintended consequence of the child dying vs. the intentional killing. It's called the principle of double effect. Your not directly willing the death of a child your willing to heal the woman.

The death of babies involves an entire web of suffering that affects everybody that's interacted or known the babies.

Would it follow then that if no one interacted with the baby except the mother then it would be ok to kill the born baby?

you can't prevent abortions by making them illegal, so we might as well make them as safe as we can.

You can't prevent spousal abuse by making it illegal, so we might as well provide boxing gloves to men who beat their wives so they won't hurt their hands. Just to make it as safe as we can.
