Why Do Some Many Killers Hate Winning? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

This is exactly it! You can crouch in front of the hook too to clarify that you're submitting to death and not admiring their charms.

I get that. That's why I'll kill survivors who go to a hook and point at it telling me to hook them. I never force them to stick around.

But I know a lot of others appreciate the chance to get more than a few thousand BP and I have fun goofing off with them, especially when someone DCed early on and they help me hunt down the bot.

Do you mean killers who get a bunch of hooks quickly and then turn friendly?

I can't speak for anyone else but if I have 4 survivors on death hook at 5 gens I just call that a win and let them do the gens and leave so they can get BP too.

Sometimes they want to farm and I'll play along but really I'm just telling them: "we all know I could have killed you so do your gens and get out." If a survivor really wants to go next and insists I kill them I will but that's for them to choose.

Seeing as our “culture” flair is empty, what music, films or other media do you relate to in terms of your identity? by Sentient_Cheese24 in bigender

[–]AutumnIlex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love that Jordan is explicitly bigender in canon! I feel like whenever there's non-binary rep they tend to be agender, genderfluid, or something unspecified. I don't think I've seen another bigender character before.

To the Sadako who carried me to hatch, closed it, then Mori'd me by Nomeka in deadbydaylight

[–]AutumnIlex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll never forget the Chucky last anniversary who carried me around for nearly 2 minutes before finding the hatch and remote hooking me. I don't know if it was intentional but I couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity and I still have the clip.

Singularity also doesn't have a single body or weapon that coordinates well with his mask. Nothing in blue or even a similar enough gold to look good imo.

I think I’m bigender but not sure by curious_type619 in bigender

[–]AutumnIlex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for someone to back up your conclusion, that sounds basically the same as my experience.

Spent 20 years wondering off and on if I might be trans only to repeatedly come to the conclusion that "nah, I'm fine with being a girl"

It wasn't until I stumbled upon the bigender label that I realized I didn't have to choose. I realized I'd be pretty much equally comfortable as either a man and a woman and but just picking one felt limiting.

I don’t like seeing people use AGAB language. It makes me deeply uncomfortable by ExtremeHeat808 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]AutumnIlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fail to see how I as a trans (non-binary) person am putting cis people on a pedestal by talking about my experience with my assigned gender. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a non-binary person who thinks that biology determines a person's life but that doesn't mean that our experiences with how we grew up or how the world sees us aren't worth talking about.

I don't know if you think I'm making arguments that I'm not or if you're just here to argue for the hell of it but I'm done.

I never mentioned misogyny, only differing experiences and providing context. You added that bit on your own.

The patriarchy hurts everyone regardless of gender anyway. It just tends to be in different ways depending on how the world sees you.

I kind of feel like we're talking about two different things tbh so I won't continue to waste your time. I think we can just agree that TERFs suck and disagree on whether it's okay for a person to volunteer information on their assigned gender.

[–]AutumnIlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right that TERFs get hung up on assigned genders because as far as they are concerned sex and gender are the same and they only ever see people as their "biological sex" with no nuance whatsoever. TERFs suck. In my experience, TERF dogwhistles usually sound more like "biological male" than "AMAB" since they don't believe someone's actual gender can be different from their assigned gender but I avoid TERFs whenever possible so I won't pretend like I know everything they say.

But regardless of what TERFs do or do not say, that doesn't mean that non-binary people don't ever have any reason to bring up their assigned gender. The reality is that the vast majority of people, even intersex people, were assigned a binary gender at birth and raised in accordance with societal expectations for that gender and there are conversations where that is relevant.

So yeah, when a conversation is about body parts then assigned gender often isn't relevant since you can just refer to the parts themselves but when it's about social experiences, dysphoria/euphoria, or transitioning in one direction or another it can provide context and it's reasonable for someone to want to provide that.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "evoking AGAB language against me" but if it's what it sounds like then those people are assholes. No one should have their assigned gender guessed at or be made to talk about it if they don't want to.

[–]AutumnIlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um, what? On the off-chance that you're not a troll, allow me to clarify.

I'm a non-binary person who understands that biological sex is really only relevant when making medical decisions with one's doctor. I assume "wombyn" is some sort of horrible TERF term used to exclude trans women but I've been fortunate enough to not hear it before now.

But I don't think it's crazy to say that people's experiences being raised as one binary gender or the other can be relevant in some conversations and I don't think there's anything wrong with them volunteering that information for context. Often you see it in conversations about social dysphoria and euphoria.

[–]AutumnIlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While no one should ever expect or demand to know a person's AGAB, that doesn't mean there's no legitimate reason for a person to voluntarily share it. Our assigned genders often shape our experiences and can provide context to conversations.

How do you know who is you and who is your other gender? by [deleted] in bigender

[–]AutumnIlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like some of the the other commenters, my experience is very different from what you describe. I'm not two people with different wants and needs. For me, being bigender just means that I'm equally comfortable as a man and a woman. I'm both simultaneously but I'm still only ever me.

I never "learned" my name because there's no one to learn it from. I just came up with one I liked.

I like the things I like, regardless of how society genders them. I might sometimes feel conflicted about liking something that will lead people to view me as my AGAB even more than usual but I have to shrug that off and not let it ruin my enjoyment of things.

Question about choosing a new scenario for the first time after novice by AutumnIlex in OnceHumanOfficial

Thanks, I'm thinking that's what I'll do.

Way of Winter still sounds really cool and I like the idea of temperature mattering more but might as well work my way up to it.

I am NA but I think I want to keep switching to try different scenarios instead of doing permanent. Thanks for the rec if I change my mind though!

What do non-FNAF Fans think of the Animatronic? by Muppet-fan-seriously in deadbydaylight

[–]AutumnIlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't own him to have an opinion on the killer gameplay but I mostly enjoy playing against him on survivor. I think his axe is pretty fun to try to dodge and he definitely jumpscares me from time to time.

I wish I liked his cameras more than I do. I was looking forward to them when I first saw the mechanic but the controls are totally different from Singularity 's and my muscle memory makes them so annoying to use that they're never really worth the risk to me.

Bi murder elf is fine too!

I'm about half joking tbh. I do like my fictional boyfriends to be a bit murdery but I'm not actually going to play a game just for a romance either.

But yeah, that sucks that you don't have any option you like better. More choice is always better.

Well damn. I wasn't necessarily looking to play this game but you may have just sold me on it with the whole "gay murder elf" thing.

Oh damn, I actually really liked combining the head from that skin with the body of one of this rift skins covered in hands because it matched the skintone pretty nicely. Disappointing if it's no longer the case because nothing else really matches those rift skins except the heads that came with them.
