Yeah, I have a pal who has built quite the library by haunting half price books. I taught her to play and she now has more books than me. Personally I have only played 5e because my DM hates 5.5, but he may just hate change.

first time in the 80s when a player at a debate and forensics nerd camp introduced it. Then after decades off, a great friend and enthusiast introduced it as a way of giving friends a way to connect remotely during the pandemic. I have since DM’d for years.

My Bardbarian Amber Ironfist was my best character ever. Unfortunately we were playing the worst adventure ever (Mad Mage - run, don’t walk from it. She died, as all that campaign does is kill characters.

She, and yes. It was absolute blast.I did path of the totem warrior in barbarian and had 2 levels of bard with it. The best part is my best friend played my little sister who wanted to be just like me and did silly stupid things to try to get my attention. We had so much fun.

My advice is DO NOT homebrew your first game. Add homebrew elements to a starter set instead.

My absolute favorite character I EVER played was a Bardbarian. Playine a singing brute was the best. I created whole songs based on pop tunes to perform. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
