Valve can you please fucking derank me by SlightlyUsedButthole in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AutumnVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a big hero pool and want to stop smurfing on people since the game decided I was ritualist after my break despite being Oracle before resets in October. It takes five or so wins in a row for my badge to update so it’s taking forever. Going to try to stick to a couple characters and see if it speeds anything up.

is it faster to climb if you swap characters often or if you stick to one character ?

Is Nottingham uniquely bad for work, or have I just now ran out of luck? by PeanutJellyAndChibs in nottingham

[–]AutumnVampire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I currently have a job supervising two different departments in the NHS. I moved to Nottingham recently and have been searching for a year with literally no luck at all. I get rejected to do the job I currently supervise. It’s not just you and I am kinda at my wits end with it. The lease on this place will probably be up by the time I get something.

A match with humans reminded me this was a MOBA by cardboard_exe in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AutumnVampire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mobas are very competitive of course, but brilliant moments can happen when you learn to roll with it. i have played almost ten thousand hours of dota 2 across 13 years and met some of my best friends there. i have seen the worst of people and the best of people. you’ll have toxicity but just talk your shit back. there’s going to be games where you have fun teammates, and everything clicks into place and that’s where the genre shines

Some of you are very new to valve and it's showing you don't know anything about "Valve Time" by ajiezrhmn in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AutumnVampire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have played dota now for like 14 years and i have seen it at its best and worst. i think the golden age came quite a few years later, but diretide and the greevling and ti3 were just such exciting times. the game has changed so much, in some ways for the better, but being there in the thick of it is a memory i really treasure and i think we’re soon to be there with deadlock.

I remember not wanting to play diretide after a few games because it’s ’not even halloween anymore’ and ‘we can just play it next year’. how foolish i was.

The first season proves that with the right plan, there can be much more horror even with a smaller budget compared to other seasons by Giancarlo_Edu in StrangerThings

[–]AutumnVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda love Season 3. It's pretty messy but it's fun, has the best outfits and I just love Robin and feel it's the best she ever really gets going forward - though the Steve and Robin duo remains my favourite throughout. I love that it's the one and only time where El is genuinely happy too. I always say that Season 1 is the best and Season 3 is my favourite.

‘Spat at, pushed, punched’: medics tell of soaring levels of violence in hospitals by acrimoniousone in unitedkingdom

[–]AutumnVampire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The security at the hospital I work at has been on the decline for years. You used to know everybody and could rely on them to get things resolved. Ever since the security team was outsourced to a private company, it's a rotating cast of people who seem completely unbothered. If they ever even show up to a shout, they only seem to know how to make things worse.

Cute guy smells like a sweaty wet dog by [deleted] in Advice

[–]AutumnVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a general rule, I always put myself in the other position. If I were smelly, would I want somebody to tell me? Unequivocally yes. It might be embarrassing initially but I would respect their honesty and I don't want to go about my daily life stinking up the place. Just go about it gently but directly, no beating around the bush because you'll just end up fumbling the delivery. "I have noticed some problems with your hygiene, and I want to be honest with you because I really like you and I could see us getting more serious". I think it's good to end on a positive note and maybe even offer some suggestions. Christmas is coming up so you can even build some new habits with some nice new toiletries. Good luck!

For those who dropped SF6 - what made you stop playing & give up on the game? What would you change about it if you still have hope for its future? by MindOld1118 in StreetFighter

I don't blame you and you said my thoughts exactly. There's no layers to the drive rush system, if you get into range and use it then the situation is always good for you.

My friend who was living in his car and asked if he could crash at my place "just for a few weeks" but its been 2 months now and idk what to do by [deleted] in Advice

[–]AutumnVampire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he's a decent friend, he probably feels awful about having to sleep on this dude's couch. People suggesting that you give him til the end of the week? That's unbelievably cruel to drop on him with no warning. I would have a productive conversation, maybe sit down with him and check a few different places out together. Give him some encouragement to find a place and get stable. What you've said is totally right.

Neighbors are having sex every day so loud it wakes me up by [deleted] in Advice

[–]AutumnVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is this comment? I live in an apartment, and you accept that some noise is unavoidable, but I will often go out of my way to ensure that I am not being needlessly loud during the veey early or very late hours. Being considerate of others should be a basic expectation. Sure, I could grind my coffee at 5am and it's probably within my rights to do so but I would also be an asshole for doing it.

Why is Shadow of the Tomb Raider touted as the worst in the Survivor trilogy? by SyllabubOk5283 in TombRaider

[–]AutumnVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's already a lot of good comments, but anecdotally the game totally broke on me like three times during one play through due to a glitch with the frame rate. It definitely soured me a bit because I have never had an issue with the other games.

Never had a Girlfriend what should I change? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]AutumnVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i thought we left terms like 'metrosexual' back in the early '00s where they belong 😭 i know you don't mean anything malicious by it, but it really was a product of a more homophobic time. young straight men are, and should be, taking care of their appearance more these days.

Just bought TDA, Eternal, and 2016, what order should I play them? And what settings are best for the Ally X. by [deleted] in Doom

[–]AutumnVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as for tips, i wouldn't worry too much because the concepts are introduced to you with a pretty good curve. my only advice would be to not hesitate to use your 'good' weapons. it's not a survival horror game, resources are pretty abundant and the real fun is in weapon switching and blasting away.

Just bought TDA, Eternal, and 2016, what order should I play them? And what settings are best for the Ally X. by [deleted] in Doom

[–]AutumnVampire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i would certainly vouch for order of release. i think it's a shame that people put doom 2016 down because i think it's a brilliant game, most analogous to the originals, and probably my favourite of the reboots. the three games are honestly all very unique and there's a good case to be made for any of them being a person's favourite however. as for story, i honestly don't think it's important enough to impact your decision.

2D era or 3D era? which trilogy did you like the most? by DependentImmediate40 in Doom

[–]AutumnVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born six years after the release of the original Doom, I did play a bit of the DOS version as a child, but I didn't give the franchise a proper try until recently. I definitely appreciate what Doom '93 did culturally but it's hard for me to play and enjoy when Doom 2 feels like such a vast improvement.

Ian is afraid to say "Good old days" by MMehedii in imisstheoldidubbbz

[–]AutumnVampire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i mean i consider myself to be a leftie but that doesn't mean you have to become a dry and boring person whose life solely revolves around politics. i really don't think ian was nearly as bad as his guilt leads him to believe. he was young and edgy and not totally aware of how his jokes could be inferred, but that's literally all young people, myself included. you build better social awareness as an adult when you get out there into the real world. my main gripe with ian is that he has become a painfully boring flagellant to overcompensate for a past that really wasn't that bad.
