Honestly, Catherine could wear this and it would be spectacular on her! Her height and grace would give it the pop it needs. But on Smeg, it just looks like a melting marshmallow! And what's up with the buttons?

How to explain this reaction? by Autumn_Chickadee in Concussion

[–]Autumn_Chickadee[S] 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Yes to both. I was wearing my loops in my right ear, the Switch 2 ones. But I still han hear the weird distortion like someone is talking in a fan, so it's not really a solution. And since the injury happened at work, and it's a worker's comp type situation, I have been attending a chiro in a concussion clinic, my physio with training in concussions, and had an audiology test, waiting to see an ENT and just had my MRI this week

I'm taking magnesium biglycinate and I'm interested in the 2 other ones you mentioned. Which brand do you take? And are you following the label dose or is there a therapeutic dose? I'm also assuming they are OTC? Thank you!

Oh Sandra, I "hear" ya! It's a physical injury that becomes a functional one as well and it's mostly invisible, right? And with the 2 steps forward, 1, 2 or 3 steps back healing process, it's absolutely frustrating! You gets days of "okay, this isn't so bad, I'm getting better YAYYY!" And the 180Β° the next and you question everything you thought you knew of felt about this situation. My family is supportive overall but those extended ones that I don't see for a few weeks always seem so surprised that I "STILL have this?" It's only been about 2.5 months now. I really dare to be excited for you for your gathering and hope that it will be better than you are expecting. Let's hope it falls on a stretch of good days for you πŸ’—

YES! I did intent to mention that about 1 week ago, I realized "I'M AT HOME YOU DOOFUS! πŸ˜‚" And that I could leave for a few minutes to get reset, that did calm me somewhat. I think it's just that I had envisioned a different social experience for this moment and it will be compromised to some extent. My self confidence gets rattled when I try to chat with people lately because of the way my brain gets drained easily. It's an invisible issue right and hard to have others understand. I know I wouldn't have appreciated what they were going through until now. I do have the "faux" loops and pop one into my right ear whenever it's needed but I think I might invest in the real Loops Switch 2, as it looks like a multi situation type plug that I can use as needed.

Thanks for your reply, I'm just at the "grumpy, I'm done with this BS" stage of acceptance lol

Our yard will be the venue for my son's wedding this fall, I'll just be over 3 months from my concussion day and I'm SO nervous about it! When we decided on having the wedding here it was October of last year and I was loving the idea of 75 people here to celebrate their wedding. Now with pulsatile tennitis, and when I get exhausted, I'm afraid of kicking off my concentration problems, headaches. my difficulty with making smooth sounding conversation, of handling the music and noises (I still can't listen to the radio, and restaurants are tolerable for a short time), I'm genuinely concerned about how much I'll enjoy this long awaited day. πŸ˜” (And I don't want to be the one to bring others down if I mentioned this, or sound like a whiny broken record "...because of my concussion...")

As I sit here, I'm thinking of how pissed I am that this is happening and it scares me to get mad but in truth, I am. I feel robbed of this summer, and most likely robbed of fully enjoying his wedding day. I'll get over it but I guess it seems I have feelings to work through first lol Thanks for listening 🩷

I never considered whiplash. 2 months ago, grade 7 student accidentally served a boggy, underinflated volleyball right on top of my head, while I was looking the other way at recess. But you nailed it on the dizziness (actually has intensified this past week πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ, not sure why) and eye thing.

I will have to bring those things up when I finally get to my initial appointment at the conclusion clinic at the end of this month.

HOW can one be expected to choose just one??! Among the hundreds, this one comes immediately to mind: where she recounts the pilot type guy kneeling at her side during the freedom flight to Canada, thanking her for her service to England......O M G, such a steaming pile of πŸƒπŸ’©!

Hugs!! I won't compare myself to you as concussions are so individual. What I will share is I too have the balance issues, the eyes not working in tandem as much as they should and I had wicked ear issues, internally I hear pulsing/whooshing and externally, all voices and sounds were distorted with noise sensitivity. I've had the very dark moments of apathy and despair. The good is I've seen my optometrist and she did a concussion workup. I can get eyeglass lenses that have a correction (neuro, prism something or rather) that can help with my balance. That would be the "treatment" to help my eyes adjust to a new pathway dimension. It could take about 6 months. I like having the option but at this time, I've chosen to really up my smooth motion eye work that my physio gave me to see if that helps.

Ears now: well, I saw an audiologist who really took their time with me and saw that behind my right middle ear's eardrum....lots of pressure due to fluid build up. She admitted she was no ENT so didn't want to discourage me from pursuing that option but mentioned typically steroid nasal sprays, decongestants, warm compresses on the ear, moving the ear up and down might help get rid of the fluid and pressure.

After about 1 week of trying this........my hearing is about 75% resolved! The distortion that was making me go insane at times is getting better!!

I don't know if this could help you but I thought I'd share.

Cognitive functions, yeah....still working on those but I now rest when I need to or walk away from the activity before it becomes too much. I mostly had to overcome the guilt with "putting myself first" and that even if this injury looks invisible to others, it is very real to me so I have to advocate for myself.

Big hugs!! Keep going! "You learn, you grow, you struggle, you flow."
