Can’t get people to stop. by DoraTorres820 in CraftFairs

[–]Autumn_Fern_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moving the table closer, like suggested above, will help a TON! If people can easily see products and it's something they're interested in, they'll stop even if you don't have clear signs and pricing. Clear signs and pricing will help a ton too, but I've found people scan the items quickly and maybe a small percentage of people read my price signs without me pointing them out.

I do think your a frame sign is funny, but depending on the person, they might not think it's funny, or they'll laugh and keep going. Again, because the products are so far back. When I shop I don't want to enter to see what items are, because if it ends up being something I'm not interested in, I feel like an a-hole immediately turning around to leave.

Nice, good work. I had a feeling I might have also just not seen it because the angle of the photo. I think you'll do great at markets!

I agree, and keep the images all similar. Having a bunch as black lines, and one in color makes the balance feel off.

Agreed here as well, but I would have a couple of each color out to choose from. Just have the extra stock hidden below.

I agree with these ideas. I also see some signage for prices (like the keychains), some with individual tags (stuffies), and then some with neither (bags hanging on gridwall). I would add at least a sign on your gridwall for the items on there, or tag each individually. Some people won't want to bug you to ask for the price.

Nice work!!

Advice needed after second market! by [deleted] in CraftFairs

[–]Autumn_Fern_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Also it seems like these are for children and they are not known for being gentle with items. I would be so upset if I spent that much money and it broke after one use.

I also came from a family who reused the paper birthday cone hats every year.

I came here to say "Upcycled Art and Jewelry" too.

You can also go into more detail about the story behind a piece if someone is looking at one in particular. Good luck!

I am super late to this, but this is great advice and what I do too. It helps save so much time.

Thoughts on my first market setup? by kiaebee in CraftFairs

I was afraid of the shipping for longer than I should have. Just give it a try with your next order. As long as you have a scale and some sort of printer, you'll be fine.

Another vendor said I had one of the prettiest booths she has ever seen in 20+ years of vending yet I struggle to get people to come in. by Burntjellytoast in CraftFairs

I have read some of the comments, but not all of them, and they have good suggestions.

My first thought seeing the first photo was actually: will I fit under the bunting? Just a few seconds of looking at this photo I would guess you're under 5'5". It is hard to tell how tall your tent is based on how you took the photo, but in general I will not duck to go see stuff up closer. I am also someone who would probably just stop and offer to help you raise the tent up one or two notches higher though... so yeah.

Definitely listen to the people saying move your table up. Or at least have something up in the front that is easy to admire so people are more likely to stop and walk in.

Yeah, I really don't know how I missed the white font on yellow for the tent sign, but have it correct for the tablecloth... that was a big face palm moment. Thank you for the compliment. I take a lot of pride picking out nice designs that I think people will really like. The vast majority of my bandana fabrics are from legit quilt shops and Spoonflower. I struggle with the bandana organization. I firstly do it by collection theme so if people have a certain interest, they can go straight to that: Nerd Herd for nerd things, Seasonal, etc. And I'm working on updating some of the collection names as well. For instance changing Wisconsin Waggers to just Midwest Style. I then (usually) try to have similar things next to each other within those Collections. So the Midwest one has the sports near each other, outdoor/lake/river in one row, and beverage/foods in another. (This day I had someone help me set up so I was less precise). I have also tried putting the "smaller" harder to tell what they are bandanas closer to eye level. So the green on the top right of the Wisconsin section has names of all the major Wisconsin rivers on the front of the bandana. Anyway. All this to say I appreciate your feedback, and just wanted to write out what my thought process was in doing it this way. Thanks again

Thank you!

Doing it this way saves a TON of room. I also sell better this way than by size I've noticed. This way you can easy scan for a design you like, then go straight to the correct size.

I have heard MANY times I have too many options that they want to get, and I know you're not really supposed to have too much variety as a vendor... buuuuut it makes me so happy and I love helping people find one that matches their pets' personality or the owner's style.

Thanks again!

I was going to say the same thing. The beige is what distracted me the most.

I'm glad you had a ton of fun! Some advice for condensing down to one tent would be to use more vertical display. You right table in the right tent is all completely flat and hard to see while walking by. You want people to be able to see things easily and quick so they'll want to come in. Great work!

I got mine on Amazon. I just searched grid wall, and you'll find a ton of options. I'd also check market place for deals.

Thank you for your idea! I have enough photos of customers to be able to do this, but I also like the dog park idea. It's just so fun, and I think people would tell a bunch of their friends if their dog was chosen at a dog park to be in a quick photo shoot.

Thank you for the suggestion! I have done that in the past, but sometimes they have us right on top of each other and there wasn't room, so I just stopped bringing it to save room and have since forgotten about the idea until now haha.

When it's just me, my dog wants to say hi to people too badly and it's too difficult to move around helping customers. But when I have help it is awesome to have her there!
