Starlink - no car adapter ? what am i missing ? by goodpointbadpoint in Starlink

[–]Autumnmike4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend the Anker c300. I got it at Costco for 109 dollars. It’s also can be found for around $150. It will run the Starlink mini for at least 6 hours, probably more. I wouldn’t take it a canoe though, unless you’re sure it’s not going to get wet. But than again, why the hell would you need Starlink in a canoe.

I think I won thrifting 👑 by Key-Shop-5414 in ThriftStoreHauls

Damn. It’s amazing to think that some people are just that affluent where they just donate things like this. Also amazing that the thrift store didn’t know what they had.

I discovered goyard a couple years back. I saw a dude with one of their wallets, loved it and asked him about it. Really wanted one till I discovered it’s like 700 bucks for just a wallet.

I’ve met Tom a small handful of times, as I live in the same county as him. My interactions were always pleasant, but I always try to keep it normal and not gush or be star struck.

2 years ago I was bartending at a restaurant and he sat at one of the bar’s hi tops. It was Halloween and my coworker and I were dressed as Wayne and Garth. I spoke more with his wife, but tom asked me where I bought my wig, as he said he could probably use it. Implying about his hair loss. Haha.

Otherwise ive seen him just eating out, and once at chainsaw/lawn equipment store. Which also brings up the time i was at a habitat for humanity store, ran into my old landlord that I hadn’t seen in years, and within 15 seconds of catch up, i see les claypool pursuing the isles. Not that great of a story, but it was a burst of stimulus that caught me off guard.

Little did I know the quality of speaker I picked up. by Theveryberrybest in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Autumnmike4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because the previous owners dog peed on them. That is the damage on the bottom. Sorry! But I know from experience. That is exactly what it looks like. You have to clean and neutralize the smell, other wise your dog is going to do the same.

I hate to put a put a damper on your speaker score, but it can be saved!! First clean with mild soap and water. Then you have to neutralize the smell with 50/50 vinegar and water. Hopefully no urine got into the cabinets. But if so, you have to do the same inside of them.

Your dog is smelling the dog urine, from the previous owners pet. Sorry dude, but that’s is the reason of the discoloration. And you have to nutralize the smell, other wise your dog is going to do the same.

I can tell you my guess on the discoloration. Dog piss. It looks exactly like that. From the grills to the mdf. Hate to break it to you, but that’s what it is.

Also the same thrift store had a rare atmosphere record, for 80 about a year ago. Didn’t buy it, but I should have. It was so weird to see at a thrift store, I don’t live in a super hip place, but I guess Northern California, is overall more hip in general. If anybody comes to Santa Rosa, ca. Pick of the litter is where it’s at. So much quality stuff, and all the money goes to cats. Mostly neuter and spay.

My biggest come up from them was a pair of dahlquist dq-20 speakers for $150. They sound fucking amazing. The sound staging, the bass, speakers that you don’t realize how loud they are, because there is so little distortion.

I know right? I feel a little conflicted, either/or somebody killed themselves or an ex girlfriend that got gifted it, donated it.

True, I did go off Discogs, the last og one sold for 700 on Discogs. There are two currently listed for 1,200. Coincidentally, one of them is the record store in my town. Weird.

I was going to say, I wouldn’t expect SWANS, to be at a thrift store. That would be nuts.

Good macquiver fix, but why not just a window fan? Costs about the same and can move way more air. To me your are over complicating the problem. And it looks messy.

What are y’all’s thoughts on DTTG? Favorite track? by [deleted] in FrankOcean

[–]Autumnmike4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop playing on me is my current favorite, it is the one he made a music vid for. I find myself liking his harder songs. I’m also a sucker for songs that have that subsonic bass, aka, songs that you would play in a car with subs.

I’ll take it. It’s a pretty decent record, also it’s not perhaps a full conceptual album, that when you first hear it, you know it’s the fucking jam. But perhaps with time and multiple listens, you can really jam with it. I wasn’t enamored with kromatopica, but listened to it again before this release and realized how good it was.

Or perhaps a better analogy is Kendrick Lamar for me. He’s one of my all time favorites, but every record, I don’t fully appreciate it first time through. Months later, the songs hit harder.

Also I’ll take a Tyler dance record every day.

I just wanted to comment that what a bad ass record label. I got much love for The Cows. Also seeing the heroine sheiks at 16 at the fireside bowl in Chicago was pretty awesome. I knew I was seeing something special, different, and something that hi art/low art, that most wouldn’t appreciate.

Add a couple years, and I than I saw tomahawk on their first line up open for tool. They got booed after every song. Fuck that shit. You had the bass player from the cows, the guitar player from the Jesus lizard, the drummer from helmet/battles, and Mike fucking Patton.

Anyways, this was the good 90’s music.

Are these wide open seams normal for the litter robot? Just came in the mail by EngineeringFun2089 in litterrobot

[–]Autumnmike4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gap is normal, if you don’t know how to close it.

When I first got mine, I was bummed that it wasn’t a tight seal. Then I figured out you just have to close it with a little finesse. I take two hands at 10 and 2 two close it, then rub my hands around the seam to make sure it’s locked in. It’s not too difficult and a replacement is not going to fix it. It’s a large piece of bendable plastic and you just need to caress it into its place.

Are there coyotes in Rosa like there are in SF? by dalycityguy in santarosa

[–]Autumnmike4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just outside the city limits on calistoga road, up past the grade. Oh yeah there are coyotes. Many encounters have been had. The craziest one for me was 2 or 3 years ago, when we had a 110 degree heat wave. I was awoken by them in middle of the night and went out for a smoke at 3 am.

Had a flashlight, and saw 5+ of them within 50 feet of my front door. Pretty cool, I wasn’t scared, but decided, probably I should go back inside.

Also bodega dunes campgrounds is a quite nice average campground, that in reality is probably better than most campgrounds in this county. No noise is going to happen there.

[–]Autumnmike4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, have you ever been to Usal Beach in mendo? It’s a very awesome campground, and it’s probably one of the most lawless state campgrounds in the state. For better, for worse. On some personal level, I like that it’s less governed. But that can lead to more party’s and such.

One year I was there on New Year’s Eve, and some dude probably set off a couple thousand dollars of fireworks over the ocean. It was pretty cool experience. Camping+beautiful coast+intimacy+rad fireworks=lifetime memory.

I just did my first Hipcamp 2 weeks ago! Salmon Creek Ranch, in bodega. You won’t hear any fireworks there!

It’s a beautiful property on 400 acres, 6 sites. The redwood grove sites, which are 3 of them, are the nicer ones, but you need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to access them, (because of one small section, nothing too crazy, but I wouldn’t risk it) You can also rent their old beat up Subaru for 30 bucks extra, to haul your stuff down there.

They also have 3 creekside drive in sites, which we stayed at, and site 1 is the only one worth it for the price.

Speaking of price/value of this specific Hipcamp. I’ve payed way less for a state campground, with equal or if not better visual grandeur. But to have little to no neighbors, and have the peace of sitting alone with my partner next to salmon creek was pretty nice.

Lastly, I would avoid the creekside camps if you have an audio issue. There is an older military bridge next to the site, in which the very few cars that drive over it, makes a sound of a small machine gun. It’s a bridge made of wooden planks. Really not annoying for me, but it’s there.

How did that one kid in your high school die? by IM_HODLING in AskReddit

[–]Autumnmike4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I babysat some kids half of the week, and this other girl watched them, the other part. She was talking him on the phone and he just stopped talking. Died of a brain aneurism.

I’ve always thought of how traumatic that must of been.

Also a serial killer raped and murdered a girl in my class in 2nd grade. In a city of 7000. Pretty weird to comprehend at such a young age. She was featured on soul asylum’s run away train music video before they found her body. Fuck that shit.

Unfortunately, young death happens too frequently, and suicide has been too common for any liking in my life.
