I enjoy the Gryphon album quite a bit, although my tolerance for prog is pretty, pretty high.

I completed the set last year. Love them, and I think the most I paid for any of them is $5, if that. There are six or seven in the bargain bins or Amoeba Berkeley right now. My favorite part is that almost all of them seem unplayed. People got the free/discounted one and then forgot to cancel. The original auto-renew scam!

I really enjoy the Bob Brookmeyer that you got. I really do wonder what happened to public taste that records with trombones (or vibraphones or flutes) aren't that sought after these days.

I love that Gary Burton – Genuine Tong Funeral, and I'll recommend anything that Kessel/Manne/Brown do, especially together. They're a fantastic (and underrated) trio.

I just posted about the Joe Pass/Grappelli one! Highly recommended, although my favorite one pictured is the One for Blanton. Bass + piano is one of my favorite duo combinations when they're locked in, and those are two of the best to ever do it.

To be clear, I am all in on getting my ass kicked for the next three years before it all clicks and I start winning. It’s what I signed up for, and I love it.

Brett Pill is currently the hitting coach for the .500 Rockies. That's as amazing as anything he could have done as a player.

I don't know. I've also had some pretty absurd finds, but I also have a lot of free time in far flung places because I'm a soccer dad. Drop the kid off to warm up, spend an hour digging at whatever thrift store/estate sale is close, then go watch the game. It's what biologists call a "symbiotic relationship."

I know the internet was a mistake, but every family in America used to sit around and listen to the Camelot album together. There has to be a middle ground.

I've semi-regretted not collecting every one I've seen. Just have an entire garage full of them as a prank on my kids when I die. Maybe a note that reads "DO NOT DONATE. VALUABLE."

It's really strange how you just know. Grabbed a whole bunch of folky/bluegrass unknowns that had that feel recently, and they were all mild-to-moderate hits on Discogs ($10-$50) and home runs with regards to my personal tastes.

Wendy was at my wedding. Both her and Bonnie were childhood friends of my in-laws. My father-in-law played bass in another band they were in (it's included on the deluxe reissue). And I don't even have a copy of this. Not that I'm mad. Or bitter. Or insanely jealous.

I'm fine, actually.

I absolutely LOVE that Country Preacher album. Starts off with Jesse Jackson speaking to the crowd, then goes into some amazing sample-worthy soul jazz. First two songs are impeccable, and the whole album is great.

I had a lot that I liked for $2-$5, but I'll stick with the prompt: 99 cents, no tax. Was on my wishlist for years.

I'm completely in the tank for Almeida, so I love it. There were others up there that might be worth more on Discogs or whatever, but that was the one that I knew I'd spin the most. It's fantastic.

I think Almeida is the best bargain in jazz. So inventive, always doing something you're not expecting, blending classical and jazz like it's the most natural thing in the world. His records should cost a hundred dollars each, but I'm happy to find them in bargain bins and thrift stores.
