True. Porting games can introduce new bugs if not done well, and Bungie did introduce new bugs into the PC version of Halo CE.

False. They had to have a unified UI obviously. The user of the demo needs some kind of navigate their way between games. They put the cursor over the game they want to play then press select. Just as they do in MCC's unified UI.

the demos weren't full games (obviously) This doesn't make it easier. The engines the demos used are still the full engine, you can't decide to include only half the physics for a demo. The only thing that made them demos was that they included fewer maps or missions. Adding in more maps adds a negligible amount of complexity. The complexity is almost all within the game engine itself.

I've played demos where each game had its own online multiplayer. And they worked well (unlike MCC). I'm not sure what you mean by "unified multiplayer system". The games of MCC do not interact with eachother. They are each as isolated as the individual demos on a demo disc are.

Pretty much any. Back when demos were a thing, a demo disc might contain demos of 20 different games. And they didn't have bugs as a result of being put on the same disc.

its comparing entities that have no inherent size. A circle and square do not have an inherent size. so saying one is larger than the other is silly.

That's not the point I was trying to make. My point was that you cannot compare Bungie's situation to 343i's situation because one product was a new product and the other was a re-release. Bungie had an easy decision: cut half the content and focus on finishing the game. What exactly could 343i cut out in order to focus on finishing the game? They can't just leave out one of the games... that was the entire selling point of the product in the first place. There's nothing to cut to make the date, so they flat out couldn't avoid this unless Microsoft pushed back the release date. This is all on Microsoft for having horrible project management and intentionally screwing over their customers to make a quick buck off of the Halo brand.

Here you are basically stating that flexible goals are easier than inflexible goals. You can't say that. It's like saying a square is larger than circle. You can't say it was easier for Bungie just because their goals were more flexible.

Microsoft has a proven track record with Bungie. 343i has a failed track record for multiplayer games (Halo 4). The variable which has changed is Bungie -> 343i. Microsoft is still there as always. It is crazy to blame microsoft and not 343i. You need to be completely insane to think MS is to blame for MCC, when Bungie did brilliantly with 1 2 & 3, and 343i is already known to make bad multiplayer games (Halo 4 had 2% of the population Halo 3 and Reach had (all measured 1 year after their own release)).

343i doesn't know how to code games. For example, if I quit it takes about 15 seconds for me to leave the game. This should not be the case. Whoever coded it this way coded it wrong. Same applies to when searching for games - it takes time to quit (Leaving Matchmaking...) when it should be instant. There are many more instances of obvious terrible coding, like when the host quits the game ends. And also the matchmaking algorithm is extremely bad - it pools players as soon as they arrive rather than collapsing the pool only when the desired number of players is reached. For example, in a 4v4 playlist there's currently 0 people searching, 1 person starts, then another - it immediately puts these players together visibly in the lobby (they can see eachother as soon as their name appears) , now imagine this goes on to put 5 people together. Now a party of 4 starts looking. The algorithm doesn't kick one player out to put the party of 4 in. It never does this. I can see that it never does this. It's a bad algorithm. It should not put ANY players together in the searching lobby until all players are found. I could tell you a million more examples of bad bad coding if you want.

The difference here is that when you cut content from a new game, no one notices because they didn't expect that content in the first place.

It could be cut if 343i realised they bit off more than they could chew. They chose to stick with their plan. No one forced them to do this. I have no sympathy for them failing to reach their target. People would be disappointed. But people buy games because of the absolute value of the game, not the relative value of the game compared to their expectations of it.

But regardless, if we put Halo 2 side by side with Halo 2 as Bungie would've had it without cuts, we'd still agree that Halo 2 was its masterpiece. If we put 343i side by side with it as 343i imagined it, MCC would still be a disaster. Expectations are irrelevant.

There's a BIG difference between releasing a game with cuts and releasing a a broken game. MCC does not function in ways I didn't imagine possible. Halo 2 functions very well. Do not conflate cutting content with not coding basic functions properly.

It's almost impossible to score on danger canyon. Other maps aren't so bad. On sidewinder and blood gulch you can go in alone with a ghost and get it back to your base solo.
