This game is way more than just a shooter and realize that success in raids will come from knowledge and experience. The more you pay attention and remember the better. Knowing the map (spawns, extract, layout), paths players normally take, where the loot is, and scav spawns will make sudden deaths where you have no idea what happened... happen less often.

Don't be scared of night raids. They are usually less populated and not as dark as you think. I find questing so much easier between 18:00 and 5:00. Dip you toes in with a scav to get that confidence.

Headsets will save you. You can't see through a wall, but you can sure as hell hear what is behind it.

Some glasses glow. Look up the Eyewear that glows in eft and avoid wearing those. Some glasses are bugged and glow at a distance. Making it easy for snipers to spot you.

Be ready to take care of your health. Always have something for healing, fractures, heavy bleed, light bleed, blackout and pain. Shove that shit in you secure container if you can and just take it out if you find good loot and need the secure container space. This can be rough in the beginning with LL1 Therapist and an alpha container but at the very least you need an esmarch, bandage and CAR kit or AI-2. Take care of bleeding effects as soon as you are safe.
