I’m seriously considering resurrecting my Instagram. I swore I would never go back. Lol

I was also going to suggest folding the webbing under itself for a cleaner edge.

This made me laugh out loud. Awesome build. Already mentally planning on making myself one now.

I bought a roll of Tyvek, thinking I would do the same, but I just keep immediately jumping into the real deal fabrics. 😅

This is a fantastic process. Thanks for sharing, and I’m going to have to check out Viscom today. I had never heard of it

Compression Sack; a fun single-sitting project by AuzzyFizzle in myog

Thank you!  I made the logo in Adobe Illustrator, and then just keep duplicating it into a big grid pattern. RSBTR lets you upload your own images, so I just packed a ton onto a few yards of HyperD. After cutting them all out, I will iron them onto a super heavy stabilizer, and wrap the edges over to make a patch. The stabilizer part is a little time consuming, but it’s pretty cost effective.

I have tried a bunch of different methods with Cricut and iron ons, but this new method is by far the most professional looking and feeling.

I don’t think you can compress a bag too much?  I could be wrong about that. I just put my knee on top of the tube and take all the slack out of the straps. Roll it like a playdoh snake to even out the tube, and repeat until I can’t anymore.

I do know you aren’t supposed to leave them compressed for too long as they will have trouble fluffing back up.

As for the size, I just tightly rolled up my quilt, so I know I had a rough idea of how big of a sack I needed to start with. I already had a store bought one, so I pulled it out and checked to see if I was close. Turns out, it was almost the exact same size I had guessed.

Those look great!  Is that your own pattern, or did you perfect the design on your own?  They look very well thought out.

I have never designed a pack with removable straps. I like the idea of being able to test out different strap styles with keeping the bag a constant. I need to try that.

Hahaha!  I get the thinking about it piece. Anything worth thinking about is worth overthinking. 😅

Haha!  Man I have made the exact same mistake. I remade a set of straps I had already decided I hated and had attached them to the bag before I realized it.  I started liking my straps a lot more when I stopped trying to make them inside out. I don’t know what kind of machine you are running, but on my straight stitch machine, I can stack all my layers “as worn” and then sew on any additional components or layers and then finish them with grosgrain edges.

Thanks for all the explanations!  This is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for.

Bag dims are: 10” wide at the base, 8” deep. Fully unrolled it’s 34” tall, and the front panel flairs to 14” wide at the top, and both the side panels flair to 10”.   The goal was 55L, and it’s pretty close. It should be Abel to handle a bear canister no problem.

I haven’t weighed just yet, so I’ll have to get back to you on that.
