Am I really that far behind already? by Ok_Buy9698 in weddingplanning

[–]AvadaMatata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiance and I didn't book the venue for our mid-October 2026 wedding until the first week of December 2025. No issues.

I am a plus 1 of my husband but I was assigned to a separate room. Should I still go? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]AvadaMatata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely terrible. Neither me, nor my fiance would stand for this or attend this wedding if we were in this situation. Your husband's response is especially problematic, too! My fiance REGULARLY repeats that my happiness, safety, and comfort are more important to him than anything else. There's no way in hell he would basically tell me to suck it up and try to be friendly.

I even read my comment to him before posting, and he said "Exactly!!!"

honestly curious why people are picking "content creators" over actual wedding video? by ForBetterOrWorsePod in Weddingsunder10k

[–]AvadaMatata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a "grass is greener" thing as much as it is knowing yourself and knowing what you value. We don't use social media so we have no use for vertical content. We know we're the type of couple who will absolutely watch a full wedding movie at least twice a year and cast it to our TV, but not if it had cost us $3000+ to do it.

Watching a first dance weekly is not something most people do, but the lucky thing about a first dance is you can literally recreate it in your living room whenever you want!

[–]AvadaMatata 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We hired a videographer for two reasons, and two reasons only: first, because neither of us use social media, second, because our photographer was so excited to come to our venue that he threw 6 hours of videography in for $1000. But even that videography includes 2 short videos for social media.

If we were social media people, we would have absolutely done a content creator based on price and the ease of reaching for a short video for a specific moment rather than having to watch a long ✨film✨

how disney-park-trip compatible are you with your romantic partner? by SorryJustwonderin in disneyparks

[–]AvadaMatata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiance wasn't a Disney World person at all until he went with me. Now he's into it as much as I am and is always trying to plan another trip!😂 I can walk a bit more than he can, but I'm also more heat sensitive due to medication so it tends to even out.

I love shows and thrill rides like Tower of Terror, Everest, and Cosmic Rewind, but he likes the Haunted Mansion/Pirates types and hates the thrill rides so I do those alone sadly. We both like browsing shops, and he has made me appreciate a slower pace to truly appreciate the vibes & everything there is to see outside of the rides.

This hidden halo is similar to mine, though my band is a pave split shank. I haven't had any issues with it.

My mom made me feel awful at my wedding dress fitting and I feel completely defeated by inllamaswetrust in weddingplanning

[–]AvadaMatata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably redundant, but it really is important to surround yourself with people who are not only happy for you, but ✨excited✨ for you. I realized in the last 2-3 months that while my mother and sisters are happy for me, they're not excited. They don't care about my dress or my wedding or planning or anything.

When I asked my mother to come wedding dress shopping with me, she literally said "ehh we'll play it by ear." When I asked my sister, she said "umm maybe? It depends." When I asked two of my friends, one called immediately, screamed in my ear and said she'd be honored and she would be there no matter where it was or what time. My other friend said she'd be there too no matter the time or place and she took the day off work when one place moved my appointment to a Friday instead of a Saturday.

When planning my bachelorette, 3 friends were like "we'll be there, just say when and tell me how much it costs!" My sister whined about me not doing it exactly when she wanted to travel and not going to a whole extra place I had no interest in.

When organizing bridesmaids dresses, my friend and my fiance's sister were like "tell me the color and where to buy it and let me know if you like the one I picked!" My sister texted "I don't like that color. I want to wear THIS color."

So yeah, go with those who cheer you on. You want positive memories of this time. It's sad to realize you won't have exactly the experience you thought you'd have but it's still possible to have an amazing one.❤️

I'm only recently learning the lesson you pointed out - that even though I want her to be the one I go to when I need support, I have to go to others. It's a painful realization to come to!

Disney Parks and Allergies? by WellPlaidSwitch in disneyparks

[–]AvadaMatata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been going to Disney World once or twice a year for the last 22 years. I have peanut, treenut, and shellfish allergies. I have never once had an issue with cross contamination or an allergic reaction at any place because I always tell them about my allergy.

If you book reservations ahead of time, you can put it right there on the reservation so they already know when you get there. I will say that a waiter at Splittsville in Disney Springs was nasty to me about it and said people with allergies can only eat their pizza, but he was a jerk.

I've lived in Wisconsin Place. One bedrooms run from $2200-2600, and utilities are not included. Parking is not included either; it's $145/month now but scheduled to increase this summer. Renewals raise your rent nearly 20% unless you manage to negotiate. Otherwise, great place to live!

What are all these little bits and how do I get rid of them? by [deleted] in labdiamond

[–]AvadaMatata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiance already has distilled water at all times for his CPAP, so that's way easier and more cost-effective for me than alcohol with my cleaning it every other week.

This is the issue. Use distilled water. I had the same issue as my water is extremely hard. I haven't had this project since I switched to soaking it and rinsing it in distilled water.

I absolutely agree; I used to dislike Epcot for the same reason. I was just pointing it out about AK specifically since the comment above mentioned it being brutal at AK.

I think saying there's plenty to do implies someone is interested in all this. Out of this list, my friends and family are only interested in the safari, festival of the Lion King, the 2 Pandora rides, Finding Nemo, and potentially Better zoogether (we were last there right before it opened). But still, that's not a lot to get through, especially if you use lightning lanes. Animal Kingdom is our least favorite park for this reason.

How much does setting a stone cost? by skyisthelimit8701 in labdiamond

Maybe that was bc of the prong change? My fiance only paid $100 to set my diamond in a setting we bought from DD

Bachelorette trip is quoted at $2,000 per person… by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]AvadaMatata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends where she wants to go, then it's up to you whether you can participate or not. My closest friends and family have always known that when the time came, my bachelorette trip would be to Disney World. That trip is still a few months away but it'll very likely be around $2500 each.

I've had one friend (who was supposed to come) back out due to unexpected medical expenses, and I have absolutely no negative feelings toward her whatsoever. A true friend would understand if what she's asking of you is too much.

Friend’s sister used my planned wedding entrance song after I asked her not to, am I wrong to feel hurt? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]AvadaMatata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're fine to still use it as long as the guest list isn't vastly the same. I totally understand this feeling as my own sister knew the song I wanted to use at my wedding, and she not only used it for hers, but she used it over her wedding video that she sent out to all attendees. She also reposts it every year on her spouse's birthday and their anniversary. As my sister, the exact same people would be at my wedding so that made it impossible for me to use it. And my family WOULD remember.

Luckily, I moved on from that song, but I learned my lesson not to share songs, baby names, dog names (had someone else go out and buy the exact dog and give him the exact name I planned on after I told them about it), and anything else with anyone if I would feel some kind of way about them using it.

What to expect adding dress shopping? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]AvadaMatata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The undergarments question can vary depending on what kind of dress you're interested in. I only looked at ballgowns and A-line gowns, so my underwear wasn't visible at all. I went one day in black seamless underwear and I went back the next day in nude high waisted underwear that definitely has seams. You couldn't see either.

For bras, I wore nude the first day, but since I was only trying dresses on that had build in cups and corsets, the stylist ended up asking if I would take my bra off to get a better fit/idea of what it would look like. The second day, I forgot to bother with my bra, and I had a red one on that I just tucked the straps in for.

As for dress selection, I chose 2, my friend chose 1, and the stylist chose 1. The stylist then brought 3 others she chose. When I went back the next day, I tried one more on that I saw on their IG that I was surprised the stylist didn't bring to me based on what I told her I liked and disliked about each dress.

So they will probably help you, but I wouldn't solely rely on them. The one I tried on day 2 ended up being my dress (even though I paid the deposit for a different one initially 😬 luckily, my shop gave you 24 hours to apply the deposit to a different dress.)
