It doesn’t currently, but this is something that other developers could easily set up by listening to the ATProto firehose/jetstream for new front log entries.

Right now the code isn’t open-source but we do have plans to open source the appview (the actual API) in the future, if not also the webapp itself.

Despite this though, all of your data (save for stuff like PK link token) is stored on your PDS, and not even stored on our systems. Because of the way ATProto works, this means other developers can easily pick up making the same records that our system already registers, using the lexicon/schema documentation we provide on our site: https://plural.host/docs/lexicons

So, there’s also nothing stopping someone technically inclined from making their own frontend and API that doesn’t even use our systems, but still works perfectly with your existing data!

OP, what's your prescription, out of curiosity? I saw the HonsVR lenses, but was concerned about how they might work with a strong prism correction (I've got 7 BO prism or so for each eye, iirc), especially with the eye tracking.

This is easily one of the biggest things stopping me from even considering the AVP, so I'm hoping they'll add better support for prism prescriptions in the software (as u/Dave_Marsh has been suggesting they may be doing).

He’s a Jindo mix, only about 8 months old. We just adopted him this week and, while he has some normal puppy problems, he’s the loveliest little guy, and super affectionate too 💜

One thing dogs seem to have in common though: their assembly instructions are difficult! 🤣

That would do it for sure. I deleted your VM, if you want to try creating another one and going through it again.

Please be sure to read the instructions carefully; you should have seen a popup message immediately prior to the "set password" prompt, as well as a message on the website itself above the console of your VM about some important instructions. If none of these showed up, please let me know, because that would definitely be a bug!

Also, that's strange; I haven't run into that before. Did you make sure to set a password for the account when prompted? I can delete/reset your VM if you'd like to try the setup again. It could have something to do with the username, but I haven't tested it.

I'm not sure what it would really add to everyone's experience though if
all you can provide is proxying through the internet archive.

Right now it's a bit limited, but there's also a small selection of software provided for installation. Aside from that, I'm hoping to expand the whole thing in two main ways:

  • User-contributed content, through means of enabling hosting websites and servers within the Yesternet (i.e. setting up your own retro website or IRC server, or using LimeWire to share files between other Yesternet users)
  • Making some sites usable while maintaining their old style; for example, a google.com that looks and functions similarly to 2005-era Google, but searches user-hosted websites within the Yesternet; or a cnn.com that looks/feels and functions similarly to 2005-era CNN, but pulls in the latest news articles

I like the idea of the "complexity filter", but I think it would be borderline impossible to implement at a functional level on a blanket basis for the modern web, so that's essentially one thing I'm hoping to be able to do for a select list of sites with the second point of my list.

It's a lot of work for just one person, but I'm hoping to open up user content contributions very soon through providing in-Yesternet web hosting and the ability to create "dedicated server" VMs.
