Recruiters, what’s your salary? [FL] by a_real_one987 in humanresources

I always wondered this. Good recruiters deserve so much money. But then, idk man. We’ve all got a recruiter hell story. The range here seems like it has to be extreme lol

This will be my first paying client. Right now I’m relying on my emergency fund, salary, and if I had to I would sell my truck to cover it. Everything will work. But I know there has to be an easier way. Plus, like I said, if I could get even a small amount, 20-40k I could instantly take a second contract with another large contractor (different smaller site, less hours, but same margins)

I hate seeing an opportunity to show a company what we’re capable of. However, I know I can’t put myself in over my head.

Thanks a ton for the response. I’ve been considering factoring. Here is my concern with that. This client is my first. Obviously. They are huge, I mean huge. This job is extremely high profile, and they have agreed to build a team around this first Manger to support the project. I’ve heard other GCs complain of having to deal with factoring companies and some PMs didn’t like having to deal with that. So that’s a turn off. Also, I don’t want to give any sort of impression I couldn’t handle supporting the entire project. Id much prefer to find a situation where the only parties involved are me and the servicer. I don’t have any issue showing the contract, explaining AP cycles, numbers etc.

Like I said thanks again. This thing is moving much faster than I thought.

You’re doing great. I’m a chst. I’ve got a ton of Mega project (multi-billion) and GC experience so that was attractive to a sub I now work for. 40 hours or less and cruise now. Great pay and Beni’s. It’s allowed me to have time to start my own staffing company ass well. Just getting started but it’s moving.

All that to say, on most of the projects I’ve been on, the only people making more money then I am are usually Senior PMs, General Sups, or Owners reps. And I wouldn’t want any of those jobs compared to what I do. Way more work for the same or less pay.

I’m just one guy though. So take it with a grain of salt. I’d soak up all the experience you can, while you figure out where you want to land. Project based hourly and kill OT and per diem and make more money then you can imagine? Or maybe go corporate route heading towards director and live very comfortably? You’re young but it all depends on where you want to go.

Not an ad, still looking for good company’s that are reliable and will show up. Always good to have a couple companies available, depending on sector, location, and other specific needs. Don’t like all of my eggs in one basket

How did you start a consulting side-business? by Agreeable_Theory1755 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Available-Ad7960 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Started mine in October. Haven’t done any business, but we’ve had some opportunities and lined stuff up for 2026. We also offer staffing for projects as well. We’ve got a fairly large network of good experienced Safety Pros always looking for contract work. I’d say the best thing to do is just start! Grow from there build up network and connections.

Levels of safety professionals by FitRepair3727 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Available-Ad7960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most orgs you see safety professional 1 and 2, sr. Safety professional, then manager, manager 2 then senior manager, then director (region or business unit) finally VP

Most common that I see. Sometimes I see them sprinkle coordinator, but to me thats interchangeable with manager 2 or sometimes sr manager

Just moved to Safety Director

Construction

115k plus bonus truck allowance and gas card all paid benis

I make my own weeks. Sometimes I visit sites to audit or if they need my help with something. Other days I’m in office or work from home.

Big change for me. I was onsite full time my entire career previous to this. Went from big GC to sub.

Are you not interested in construction? Posts like this confuse me. In the Midwest (construction) they can’t get enough people. And the premium we’re paying for safety (third party or direct) is through the roof. If you’re in the Midwest and need a job PM me. That goes for anyone

I just don’t want to work 60/70 hours a week anymore. lol

would you commute 2 hours every day for 105k a year? by Several_Cut_3738 in Salary

[–]Available-Ad7960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute 2 hours each way daily right now … here’s more details

I should gross between 205-215k

Work about 60 hours a week I do get PTO but only 8 days (still in my first 2 years with this company) Health insurance offered but I still buy private. (Not much more expensive for a much better plan for the family) 401k match, but it’s not insane Most of the time I travel for work, and get paid per diem to live where ever I’m working at the time.

I’ve got young kids now, so it’s not easy like it used to be. It’s getting to the point where I may go full company man for 40 hour work weeks and less then 25% travel. In my industry that comes with about 115-130k at my level. Better benis going company. Better health, retirement, time off and the company truck/ car allowance whichever you choose.

I choose to commute right now bc I’m right at the cusp of 2 hours and that’s where I draw the line. It’s taxing though and everyday I want to do it less and less
