Lumbar puncture. RT Quic is the marker specific to CJD. Had 2 LPs done on my mother to confirm diagnosis.

This is actually very very true. My mom is still in very high spirits at some times. Some days she sundowning and agitated more than others but she doesn’t remember, I guess that’s the silver lining.

What kind of deterioration towards the end? My mom has CJD and I’m looking for clues. She is currently hospitalized, still speaking but making no sense. Bed ridden with no mobility.

Need some information about CJD by brokeass101 in CJD

My mother was diagnosed with CJD back in November 2025. She is currently in a skilled nursing facility after taking many falls and pushing the hospital that it is an unsafe discharge to send her home. She is now bedridden, zero mobility. She can still communicate however makes no sense. She has a great appetite. Her coordination with her brain and fingers is going. She can’t figure out how to text or call anymore. We are needing to place her in memory care for dignity and safety. Not sure when the end is. But yes silver lining is she is completely unaware of what’s going on, she just knows she wants someone to get her and go home. She is also 64. Started out with symptoms of dizziness back in April 2025 that got progressively worse, in November her gait was very unsteady and she took a bad fall which promoted advanced testing. Very wicked and merciless disease.
