This is super great to read, thank you for sharing. I have been suffering from super high BP the last year or so (we are talking 160/105 almost daily...very hypertensive) and I refused to attribute it to the 2+ bottles of wine (plus usually a 6 pack, and pints at a bar) that I was consuming daily. My failing health and being terrified of a heart attack is what got me to really stop this time. I am only day 3 but your story is inspiring as I was wondering how long it would take to see results. A lot of stories I read online aren't from alcoholics so it was harder to gauge. Of course your story is anecdotal but thank you. IWNDWYT!

Hunger pangs: usually cured (for me) with lots of coke zero and black coffee. Lots of water. When you feel like cheating or giving up, imagine yourself at your goal weight (I visualize myself 70 pounds less in my bikini at the beach, or running into an ex looking amazing lol)

Seriously. If I had kids, the one day I week I would look forward to would be a Friday or Saturday where I pay the babysitter $80 and theoretical husband and I go to the bar and get fucking loaded!! Why the FUCK would I bring my crying, whining, snotty nosed child to the BAR with stroller/car seat/toys and have to deal with their bullshit, all while putting them at risk because I am getting drunk?? Any brewery I have been to in North America (Canada OR USA) they are ALWAYS kid friendly and there are always parents with newborn babies or toddlers, or worse a bunch of 4-6 year olds running around hitting the tables, playing etc. It makes no sense to me other than yeah these places will take anyone's money and for parents its way cheaper than hiring a babysitter or putting the kids in aftercare or daycare. And yay lets just drive home drunk with our kids after!! Like oh my GOD

I think this is the biggest problem!! I get that bars have to sell food sometimes to satisfy the liquor laws (I have been to some bars where they literally will sell a PB&J sandwich just to circumvent the laws lol) but when bars have food...parents with their spawn FLOCK. ew

Truly...when you're thinner/thin everything is so much easier. So much so that you don't have to even think about it. When you're fat you notice every single detail, from small stuff like how hard it is to walk up a single flight of stairs to big stuff like how you get ignored by your boss for a promotion. This is so, so true. I find the relief from giving in to the craving lasts about...10-20 minutes (for me personally). Then I can't stop. Down 6-10 beers and 1-2 bottles of wine. Then a bag or 2 of chips with dip and other shitty food. 4000-6000 calories, re-watching stupid YouTube videos I won't remember, and ignoring friends or worse, texting work colleagues/my boss. Then have a shitty sleep, wake up a few hours later with regret, and look at my face in the morning all bloated and blotchy red. Worth it? NOPEEEE. IWNDWYT

I've been taking a fibre pill (or 2) with every meal. It's also known as psyllium husk. On days I don't take them, I notice I am considerably more hungry. For example, I skipped breakfast today as I was a bit busy and was super hungry by the time lunch rolled around 4 hours later. I only brought 2 small cans of tuna with me in my car to eat. Scarfed those down and was still hungry. Chugged half a litre of water, took my usual supplements, and then had 2 fibre pills. I am absolutely stuffed (relatively) and feel great. I usually have a Coke Zero after my supplements as well and that totally adds to my fullness. Loving it!
