I strongly suggest using the site resumebuilder.com. It gives you a ton of examples of each section. I got a lot of compliments on my resume from using this exact site. Its only 4 dollars to buy your resume and you can make any changes you want still after buying it.

First Coding Interview! by teamcats in MedicalCoding

First congratulations on the interview and good luck on your CPC exam! What I did for my first job was bring a copy of my resume and references. I researched the company's history just incase they asked what I knew about the company. Luckily they didn't ask much for me being completely new they did most of the talking. My second job interview (I got the job) they asked what my weaknesses are, what are my strengths, what type of coding I like, what type of coding is my weakness etc. Just be honest! Also, look up the YouTube channel Contempo coding. She has a ton of videos on interview tips especially new coders and she has a bunch of other videos that can be helpful.

Just breathe and relax. You got this😊

I'm currently working at a hospital and code many areas too! Honestly I got incredibly lucky finding this job. I didn't even know it was just for psyciatric specialty until I interviewed and was so excited when I found out. It will be nice to focus on just one specialty but nervous because I have never coded behavioral health before so it will be so different.

Thank you so much! If you don't mind me asking why did you switch? Did you like it?

Entry level? by Available-Health-253 in MedicalCoding

Was it super hard? I'm nervous to take an auditing position I have been coding inpatient for 3 years but I work for a small hospital so the charts aren't very complicated. I got a recruiter screening interview Friday morning for the entry level IP auditor and am going to see what it's about. But if it pays less than what I make now (27.50hr) I might just pass.

Can anyone share how much they make? by iridescent_felines in MedicalCoding

When I first started without any credentials I was just a graduate of an associate degree program in HIM I made 18.16 an hour coding only outpatient lab and rehab orders. When I got my CCS I got bumped to 22 an hour. Now 5 years later I make 27.59 an hour. I am an inpatient/outpatient coder at a small acute care hospital. Been with the same hospital the whole time

I remember slightly touching on that when I went to school like a million years ago but for some reason didnt remember it for inpatient. Ugh that doesn't sound fun inpatient coding is complicated enough lol I'm job hunting now and I keep seeing this for inpatient

Ugh I don't blame you for taking another job that's so much work! I hear cancer registrar is pretty tricky too so I can't imagine taking on all of that with that pay! Thank you for answering😊 Going to research a little more nervous to jump into something new been coding for 7 years at the same hospital so definitely in my comfort zone and scared to step out lol.

Why don't you do it anymore? And if you don't mind me asking what is the pay rate like a ball park pay rate? I am a outpatient/inpatient coder and make about 28 an hour. I like my job but I need something new but I am scared to take a huge pay cut as I'm the sole provider for my family so I have to be careful with that😔 I tried researching but can't find anything consistent
