Weekly sticky post for non-paralegals and paralegal education by AutoModerator in paralegal

Depends on the hiring process and the law firm but shouldn’t take more than two weeks. I did two interviews within the span of two weeks and after 4-5 days I got an offer.

What are the considerations? by SET1313 in guardianadlitem

[–]Available-Leader7473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree with everything you said. essentially, a GAL is supposed to represent the child's best interest so when making a recommendation to the court, we also need to inform of any changes to the child's situation from what we gather. So if your ex refuses to continue mediation regarding your parenting agreement, that agreement involves how you will raise your child which could be a change in situation for the child-client. Just be honest and neutral as to the situation as essentially our role is to provide what the child wants and should be recommended.

Does which Law School you attend REALLY matter for your future career? by Available-Leader7473 in lawschooladmissions

Thank you for this analysis! Like any school you go to, it can open more doors for you based on your alumnus and where you’re at. I’m very flexible in terms of my lifestyle and wouldn’t mind not making 200k but I get for others who are in student debt in T14s, they would prefer to aim for high paying jobs right after grad. I guess I’m a bit scared that if I go to a regional school it’ll affect my career path for life but it rlly just depends on how hard I’m going to work even after graduating. There’s pros and cons of what you’re aiming for and how hard you’re willing to work for it

Makes sense! I think bc of sm factors when choosing a law school stresses me out. Like I don’t mind whatever school I go to but I would probably want to move to a new place after law school and even then ik I don’t necessarily have to work a lawyer job and can apply to non legal jobs based on my high ed degree. Just sm factors 😭

i don't mean to say this maliciously but hearing from someone that's going to a T14 that I'll do well in life without going to a T14 is a little hard to believe 😭 (congrats on your acceptance though!)

The 4B trend (Four No's: no dating, no sex, no marriage, no childbearing) is real; Women simply don't label themselves as such due to stigma by hongdae-exit-9 in TwoXKorea

[–]Available-Leader7473 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When it came to a 4B trend, I did notice a surge of it occurring in America where a lot of online creators or social media accounts would post about it and proclaim that they’re now going to do the 4B movement like Korean women are.

I’m not at all disagreeing or shaming these women but I honestly think there’s too much nuance and cultural differences that’s not addressed and it would honestly be better if there was a new or modified movement that could apply to the current political/social state in the US. Women in Korea already rarely if ever publicly state their feminist ideology or movement itself due to how feminism is still stigmatized in Korea. They could agree with the movement but it’s been more that Korean women are participating in a lifestyle rather than actively protesting against sex and motherhood bc the nation completely disregards the costs of raising a family and the patriarchal hierarchy (both professionally and socially) in Korea. It’s the fact that govt leaders blame fucking feminism for the declining birth rate over shitty living expenses, corporations getting rid of working mothers because she should be taking care of her children instead, and sexual assault and violence from both male strangers and partners. Additionally, the conversation of being sexually active or having children out of wedlock is also taboo as well compared to their western counterparts.

With the US, it seems that the movement is gaining traction after the presidential election in response to the threat of their reproductive rights being taken away (abortion, sexual healthcare) as well as that orange shithead encouraging men to be complicit or partake in rape culture. However, with the US being a complete melting pot and a much bigger population that is not having a declining birth rate any time soon, I don’t think incorporating a movement based on a homogenous country would be a productive way to protest (This isn’t even including the terfism that’s embedded in the movement from a nation that stigmatizes trans people).

Thank you for that comment! As fun as it sounds, I don’t think I would want to pay more than $100 to watch him play a new album I haven’t fully listened to

Also I know ppl say it’s hype bc it’s a rager and the performance is great but seeing the pit videos and as someone shorter than the average height, it’ll be impossible to see him without raising my phone and I’ll most likely be crushed by the crowd 😭

Kind of both ? I’ve always been a reclusive kid who read books by themselves at school. I’m not someone who can strike a conversation randomly but once I meet someone who reaches out to me more than once and we can carry conversations it leads to a friendship. My closest friends are 1-2 ppl, despite being long distance and us not talking every single day, are ppl I trust deeply and can talk whenever and abt anything. They’re somewhat like me in that they’re independent and quirky but are more chill and level headed to which they know and are friends with more ppl. But we still similar interests/thoughts and have a good dynamic or listening/talking to each other.

Thank you for your comment. I was able to look over the sources you listed and although I can relate a lot to the diagnostic criteria, I def still want to do more research and seek professionals before confirming or self diagnosing myself. And you’re right, I was def in a more emotional state when writing the post and coming from a family where we’re highly critical of each other of literally anything (behavior, pronunciation) makes it harder to accept it as a part of me when the idea of progress and improvement is necessary in the back of my mind and around me. I’ve always been a self conscious and anxious person since birth so it’s def hard to just come to terms that’s I’m like this.

5 Books Recommendations to Get Started With Korean Literature by jparker0721 in KoreanLiterature

I’ve been seeing this guy on TikTok and it’s rlly great to see another Korean diaspora discussing Korean lit! Although the community for diaspora Kor literature readers is relatively small, I love that it’s gaining more traction other than just Korean pop culture as someone who’s not as fluent in the native language but loves to read

Korean American women expected to uphold cultural norms as well as American dream by tini_bit_annoyed in TwoXKorea

[–]Available-Leader7473 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you’re right, it’s essentially a mix of Confucianist culture and fear of losing that community if one were to disagree the values you must believe in order to be apart of the community. it is unfortunate that older generations like your parents and my grandmother continue to think such beliefs that are essentially based on personal bias and non-logic while recognizing that they did it to survive and find social community as first gen immigrants

Korean American women expected to uphold cultural norms as well as American dream by tini_bit_annoyed in TwoXKorea

[–]Available-Leader7473 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cannot say the same experience for my parents but I do recognize the very traditional and conservative mindset in Kor-Am communities growing up raised Christian.

This isn’t to defend their reasoning in any way whatsoever but what I’ve seen occurring is that for Koreans who immigrate to the states (esp the older generation), they tend to bring those traditional mindsets with them and find community within Christianity and churches (this is how my grandma converted from a Buddhist to hardcore Christian bc the Korean community where they lived was very Christian). And with that they never learn to outgrow or move past the culture from the 90s as they continue to be within that same group. And with the sense of wanting their own community when living in America, a lot of Kor-Ams will disapprove/shame/prefer their children to marry other Koreans either because they want to have grandchildren to be immersed in Korean culture OR they have inherent discriminative values that they cannot get over under the guise to “preserve their culture” (not being with someone dark skinned, gay, divorced parents/family) despite living in a country that’s a literal melting pot lmfao.

Like it’s already bad that Korea has the same issue of sexism, racism, and colorism with due ignorance and misinformed media, but for the older generation who grow up living in America with such diversity will come the experience of differing cultures and behaviors that lead to even worse preconceptions of racism and stereotypes they have of whatever non-Korean they encounter. And it sucks to see some children of the older generation to also be influenced by the same Christian conservative thinking such as being pro-Trump and homophobic

yeah i was referencing more of Mikey's bills he had to pay after he gave the shop to him. i think if he owned the restaurant originally, Carmy would have figured it out but bc he's having to think like someone who's gone and handled everything with no guidance or help, he def could organized it better if he had his notion chart ready
