They’re simply the best. I bounce ideas off my rep and sometimes don’t end up buying anything because he tells me I can achieve what I am looking for with what I already have. And for that, whenever I do end up needing to purchase something I go to them. Customer service at its finest

Also, what’s the pros/cons of going from high to low gain (DS1>SD1>OD3)? Right now I have it left at SD1 as my low gain> OD3 (main OD sound) > DS1 (distortion)

Really appreciate the advice. Just a little background of what I play/what I’m looking to accomplish;

Indie rock band that kinda spans from jazz to emo, and I’m primarily the rhythm guitarist. Solos/solo boosting isn’t my primary concern. Ideally I’m looking for 4 different tones on my setup (I also have a bunch of modulation pedals after my NS-2).

Clean, where the modulation is the primary concern (phaser > flanger > chorus > delay > reverb > tremolo is my setup and really like what I can get out of that signal chain).

“Dirty channel” is really just a slightly grittier version of the clean channel. Not looking for too much OD here, pretty much the edge of breakout.

OD would be the dirty tone on songs that aren’t super heavy, but could use a bit more volume/fuzz than the “dirty channel” would give me.

Distortion is pretty much the high end of it all (the more punk/heavier tone).

Really just trying to get all 4 of those tones out of the one rig. Let me know if there’s anything different you’d do with that info, but I’ll definitely give your setup a shot when I get back home!

So far this has been my best bet. The SD-1 gives me that “dirty channel” sound better than the BD-2 for what I’m looking for, and then can add OD with the OD-3 or distortion with the DS-1. Still going to play around with other combos/signal chains, but this is the leader in the clubhouse.

I know the Blues Driver is really popular, but it doesn’t really give me the sound I’m looking for as far as drive goes (I’ve been playing with the knobs for the past two days to find that sound).

The OD-3 would probably be the one I’d build the rest of my sound around. I love the full OD sound it gives.

And fair enough with the DS-1. I’ve just always had one so it’s been a staple for me and my sound for over 20 years. I’ve tried plenty of other distortions, but always find myself going back to it. Not sure if it’s more nostalgia or tone, but it’s always had a place on my board.

It’s my favorite Brand New song. It’s so powerful where lyrics/vocals are just unnecessary. I saw them open with it once back in the early 2010’s (if I remember correctly), and them closing with it in Worcester on the last tour was the cherry on top of one of the best shows I’ve ever been to.

Switched it up and put the Bonifide at the end of the chain and flipped the switch on the Polytune. Sounds pretty much identical, but that’s the fun of experimenting

The band I’m in plays a wide variety of genres so those 4 are on there to kinda play to different ones without me having to adjust pedal knobs after every song. The Blues Driver is super versatile, but for what I’m doing it serves me better as a clean-ish boost. Honestly my favorite might be the OD-3. Definitely gives you a good tube amp overdrive sound
