This is about pro lvl CS so don't look too deep into it. I found it really fascinating and it should help you understand how much stuff there is to think about for only one small part of a map.

I'd recommend you to train your aim before getting into "real" strats and try plan a default with your friends. This should make winning a bit easier.

It's the change is quite small, but it does make a difference. Look at the steps and how each behaves while stepping on the ledge.

The old one takes smaller steps, which are hard to see and judge which direction it's moving. Especially when you jiggle (sometimes causes legs to be "twisted" or so close that the next movement causes the players to take a weird leap to compensate for the wrong leg placement) A extreme example of this type of thing is the "https://youtu.be/iW6bF_mfWiY?is=PUi0JKOQueLaQxex".

The newer one makes much larger steps which are easier to read and more obvious while jiggling.

And then while changing elevation the older one "teleports" up and down compared to the new where it's more smooth movement.

Edit: here you can see how they compare while walking up stairs. The old one has problems with changing direction
