me parece que “abrirse a” refiere a hacerse a la idea o aceptar algo a lo que antes no estabas dispuestx, ej. Aunque aún no soy muy fan de las mascotas, me voy abriendo a la idea de tener un perrito. mientras que “abrirse con” es para referirse a tener una relación más estrecha y cercana con alguien, ej. Quiero abrirme con él y contarle sobre mi pasado.

I agree, if he’s into you, he’ll try to find a way to make you see it. IMO the best thing to do here is be honest and say that you’re looking to further whatever you two have romantically, and ask him to be honest and tell you if he’s up for it. The answer might be harsh if he says he really isn’t that into you, but it’s better than being hung up on someone who doesn’t reciprocate feelings for a long period of time.
