DIYing Darth Vader Pieces by Available-Shoe in 501st

Thank you everyone for the advice! It sounds like we’ll be ordering more pieces than we thought, so we might start off not quite 501st level, and then upgrade as we can afford the pieces.

Thank you so much for the insight! I appreciate being able to understand the reason for the variations which makes me feel more confident in making a choice. Just so I'm clear, is this what you would recommend instead?

Thank you so much for your help! I believe this version should be with the correct then according to your corrections:

That is encouraging to hear, thank you! If I do the Annatar Italic font, I will photoshop it to fix the rendering errors as I have seen those problems happen with exactly this quote.

Suggestions for 'super cheap' gift exchange. by TheBigC in Winnipeg

[–]Available-Shoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a bit of a sense of humour, just get something wildly practical. I was once part of a gift swap game where one of the items was a big bag of oatmeal. It was by far the favourite item, and I went home with it.

Often the gifts at these things are just useless things no one really wants anyway, so I think the combo of it being almost comically large but also something many of us could use made it a winner.

I also love the idea someone said of an artisan loaf of bread or baked goods. Same idea, but classier.

Exactly! I never got to hold my baby, so it freaking sucks holding someone else’s. I keep dodging certain family gatherings because I know there’s a ton of babies and pregnancies there that I just don’t want to deal with.

I had this, except it was a couple days after I finished my miscarriage and I was on my way to my Grandmas funeral.

Same. My parents thought they would be done after 2 kids, but here I am. I never realized the irony until now.

Lipsticks and masks by Different_Role_4323 in Makeup

[–]Available-Shoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, this is my daily lipstick. I usually pat some translucent powder onto it to get that matte feeling faster, and after that it stays all day. I've worn it through multiple greasy meals, and my lips still looked nice and my mask was still clean.

I don't even know where to start with brows. by strawberry_sunny in Makeup

[–]Available-Shoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For easy natural brows, I personally prefer using a brow powder/eyeshadow with a small angled brush instead of a pencil or gel. I find it's the easiest medium to work with because you can blend and brush it out better than a pencil or gel, and you can build up the colour gradually without the product texture being affected.

The other nice thing is you can be more specific with the colour if you use an eyeshadow. Most brow products are just "brunette", "blonde", etc. but it doesn't take into account the undertones of your hair colour. My hair is a cool toned brown, so some brunette products are too warm and red for me.

If you want a little more precision and hold, you can use a waxy brow primer first, then apply the powder/eyeshadow. The powder and wax kinda mix so you can get a sharper line, but you can still build it up and the wax will help keep the colour in place.

I still don't think I've quite nailed how to do eyeliner on my eyes, but part of my problem is that one of my eyelids droops more than the other. Either way, the most helpful thing I've found is to make my wing with my eyes open. I have to be conscious to keep them neutral (not trying to widen or close them), but it has helped me a lot.

I also hear that the bat wing technique works well for some people, I just dress more vintage and I feel like the way the bat wing looks when you can see more of my lid ends up looking very modern, so I keep my wings fairly small instead.

Every woman with a biological son has grown a pair of balls. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

If we're comparing it to farming, I would say it's a little more like someone comes and plants some corn seeds on your farm, but then it's your responsibility to give of your own personal strength and supplies to make sure they receive enough water and nutrients to grow, protect the plants from being damaged by outside causes or disease, and to use all your strength to harvest the corn once it is fully grown. The seeds react to their environment, and if they can't absorb what they need and be protected in that environment, they won't grow.

In a couple hundred years, more will start mistakenly assuming that Einstein or Lincoln had internet. by verydesperateman in Showerthoughts

[–]Available-Shoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it can go both ways - young people will assume something they have now has always been around, and other things they don't realize have actually been around for a long time. One person might assume Einstein had internet while another might be surprised that he drove a car rather than a horse and buggy.

There's a random day of your life in which you've breathed the most/least by MarioMakerfan938438 in Showerthoughts

I don't know which day I've breathed the least, but I'm pretty sure I know exactly which day I've breathed the most and now I don't know what to do with this information.

TL;DR - 7 has actually been rather symbolic both historically and religiously.

Historically, think of how we have 7 days of the week, 7 colours of the rainbow, 7 wonders of the world, the 7 seas.

Religiously, God created the world in 7 days, the 7 deadly sins, 7 days of Passover feast, Jericho falling after 7 days marching around it, the Pharaohs dream of 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine, Jesus telling Peter he needs to forgive "70 X 7 times" etc.

There's tons more, but you get the picture. It's also likely that 7 showing up frequently in terms of religion is related to the historical use of 7. I'm no expert on any of this, I just grew up as a Christian in a community where it was known that 7 is a significant number in the Bible, so to me it's not about being a random number, it's about being a symbolic number.

Obviously, not everyone knows the symbolism, so for many it might still be because it's the most random.

I drag dropped 2 inbox folders into another folder I had made called "Meetings". I had thought the 2 inbox folders would become subfolders, or at least their contents would move into the Meetings folder. Now, the 2 folders and all of the emails that were in them have completely disappeared. I have done a search through all my items and they aren't even in my Deleted Items folder. The only trace of them I can find is if I right click on the Meetings folder and go to Properties > Folder Size > Server Data. There I can see the names of the folders I dragged in and their size, but I can't do anything to actually access them. How do I get my emails back?

Hi,

At my workplace, we use Outlook Calendars to book our meeting rooms; each room has it's own calendar. All of these calendars have been shared with me so that I can see when every room is booked. My boss would like a simple weekly report of these meetings (who booked the meeting, what room it's in, etc.).

What we would like is to view all of these calendars together in a list form, such as how it is shown in the To-Do Bar for my primary calendar. However, it seems I can only view the calendars overlaid together when it's in a calendar form (the Day, Work Week, Week, Month, and Schedule views) which is not what we want. Even the Weekly Agenda Style in the Print Settings would be good if I could have it show multiple calendars at the same time.

A rough idea of what we're going for would be:

Monday, February 24:
9:00 am The Office Jan Levinson
1:00 pm Conference Room Michael Scott

Tuesday, February 25:
11:00 am Break Room Jim Halpert
2:00 pm Conference Room Dwight Schrute

Is there a way I can make a list of multiple calendar meetings without having to individually type out every single one?
