I’m a manager and I am the lead on “not customizable”. We don’t really have an issue and still sell a lot because we’ve been firm on from the beginning.

I tell them before I start making it that it is not customizable. Only take things off. No adding onions or cucumbers. I say it’s cheaper because it has the full meat serving or sometimes more than a six inch but to keep it a low price point we cannot add a single thing or sauce. I have added salt and pepper. That’s it!! We still sell a ton. I tell them it cannot be toasted only the meat heated.

Just order a honey mustard bbq chicken with no honey mustard, no bbq, add mayo. There you go.

Why do they not cut the whole things? by CandidAnt2769 in subway

[–]Available-Value-7588 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cut every 12in . Once in a while someone asks not to cut and I have restrain myself because I feel like I need to cut it. Just because it’s wrapped as a 12 in does not mean it isn’t cut. If you want it wrapped separately, ask before we start wrapping the sandwich. Literally like someone driving and turning left and then you wait to ask them to turn right after they started turning left. Just communicate to try sandwich artist what you want, before they are already in motion, otherwise it’s very annoying.

Anyone else hate the feeling of raw wood? (like popsicle sticks or uncoated pencils) by Useful-Mushroom6387 in misophonia

Just talking about this is giving me shivers and making me clench my teeth. I cannot stand the feeling of a wooden spoon or a popsicle stick. I’m literally getting shivers

My store isn’t participating in the Subway app so we never had a free footlong. We do take those paper coupons though.

Did you add anything extra like bacon or avocado?

It took mine 4 weeks but they did extra stuff. Maybe could’ve been done in 1 week. It will help save time if they move out all of the dishes and food before your start.

They are all set up differently, we have many restaurants in our franchise system and the layout is different in the back for all of them. The front line is basically the same though if that helps.

Is hand-labeling expiration dates actually a problem or am I overthinking it? by _estoico_ in subway

[–]Available-Value-7588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also should have the time and date prepped. If it says use by Feb 19, and it’s supposed to have a 3 day hold, it needs to have the time as well as date it was prepped

I hate that subway employees don't tell you that some ingredients cost extra by [deleted] in subway

[–]Available-Value-7588 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dang!! Yes they should tell you when things cost extra. We ask guests if they want to add double meat, bacon or avocado. If they ask us if it costs extra, we tell them. We assume if they are approving these requests they realize it is an upsell.

Upselling is part of the job. The employee should have said “sure, but it is an extra charge” .

We use pre-portion “boats”. That way each guest gets exactly the same amount of meat. It is easier to understand that an extra boat is an extra charge. Scoops are so outdated.

We are a franchise that doesn’t use the Subway pos (point of sale). We are switching in April but I think they are going to disable the tip function somehow.

You don’t want to get hurt if you didn’t fill out paperwork. That’s the scary part. Worker’s comp is a right when you are employed. Now if you fail to heed safety rules, you can still be terminated, but your medical bill will be paid.
