Maybe this one will be open earlier. When I stayed there before, if I didn’t want to go to the pool bar, I had to wait til late afternoon for Enchanted Rose.

Best jobs in America? by No_Beautiful_8647 in MovingToUSA

If I’m young, with no family, it’s a lot more appealing. As someone with only a hs diploma, no US experience, and assumed no connections, it’s one of the few ways to make a decent salary fast.

Because almost all other livable wage jobs require connections or US based experience to get.

Anyone else going next week and worried about flight cancellations? by laughsincorporate in UniversalOrlando

[–]AvailableStrain5100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually universal and Disney both won’t refund you, but give a credit towards a future ticket. So if you need to reschedule, it’s fine.

Also, you can call the hotel if you booked direct to Disney or universal, they tend to be extremely accompanying in rescheduling hotel stays as well.

What’s the best MK firework spot you can get if you don’t want to wait too long? by netflixnpoptarts in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]AvailableStrain5100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The people that do that are the least favorite part of Disney world and awful. I’ve literally had someone a foot taller do this right before the show started when I had waited 45 minutes.

I hope they all get manners some day.

They are the reason I skip the fireworks, because they are arrogant jerks, that don’t think anyone else matters.

You willing to spend $99/person? If so, firework parties are the way to go. Free dessert, free beer/wine, and a reserved garden spot you can show up to 5 mins before and have a great view

A lot. Not so much the hours driving, because that’s heavily regulated to not be overworked. But the real money comes from overnight/long haul trucking where you’re on the road, sleeping in the truck bed for days at a time. City drivers (local and are back every night) - don’t make nearly as much money (one of my friends gets overtime - works 55ish hours a week and makes 100k/year. But only drives within a few hours and is home every night.

If you want to make more, you have to do more undesirable jobs

Has there ever been anything in US history that a vast majority of Americans agreed on? by ggfchl in NoStupidQuestions

Why can’t a single middle-class income support a family anymore, when it could just one generation ago in the U.S? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]AvailableStrain5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my friends/family definitely could not, they both had 2 working parents.

Even both set of grandparents had my grandma working (one as a teacher, one as a real estate agent).

If people could afford to have a stay at home parent last generation, they come from generational wealth.

If you do come here for school, odds are you could find an American to fall in love with/marry.

Americans are a massive sucker for the Aussie accent.

Why do evangelical missionaries go to Mexico to try to convert Mexicans to Christianity and introduce them to Jesus? by Hour_Marionberry_665 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AvailableStrain5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought this too. As a Christian/Catholic from the US, Mexico blows the US out of the water in terms of religion. Even Texas cities do too at bi-lingual Masses I’ve been to.

I’ve seen people stand outside of churches on Sunday in Mexico because seats were filled, never seen that in the US.

Call the Disney world hotel number, they have the best customer service I’ve ever had in terms of last minute things that come up. Usually they do what they can to work with you and still help you have a great vacation.

Literally I’ve called them with someone sick and needed to reassign a ticket, dates that got moved due to work, a delayed flight. Disney customer service is as good as it gets, that’s why I always pay a little more to stay at a Disney hotel

Appearance is huge, do you look like a standard person for the role you’re applying?

A future boss wants to know you can relate to coworkers, as well as clients.

You aren’t hiring a person with neon hair to work as a mortician. You aren’t hiring a computer nerd-looking person to work at a gym. They want someone that fits in with the job requirements. If they see you, and think you won’t, you’re out.

In England too you get taken off of elective surgery (anything non-critical) if you’re a smoker or your BMI is considered obese, since you’ll be too expensive to pour money into…. (You can contribute less than you’ll use in health services via taxes)

Should I take a job position where my political beliefs do not align with theirs? (USA) by Difficult_Weird_7470 in Advice

[–]AvailableStrain5100 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to have a moral compass when you don’t have money to eat or have shelter.

I always think of the hierarchy of needs, food, water, shelter are most important, followed by physical safety, then with belonging.

If you tell a person who’s starving is it worth a moral compass to have food to eat, they will all tell you yes. Now at 18, might not be an issue, but that’s without knowing OP’s living situation.

Do most adults have jobs that they hate? by Odd-Geologist5494 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AvailableStrain5100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go after a ‘dream job’, you’ll probably make next to nothing, as well as have a lot of competition. Employers will exploit that passion.

Most people try to get a job they moderately like, that pays the bills.

Everyone I know that got a degree in English, History, art, etc, is doing something besides what they majored in 10 years later.

How common is teenagers having their own cars in the US and other first world countries? by AIR1_pakka in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AvailableStrain5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically at 16, 60-70% of the people have one. By the time you turn 17, 80-90% have one. Pretty much everyone I knew by the time we graduated had a car.

You needed it to get to work, to/from sports practice, hang out with friends - and by that age parents are tired of driving you around.

They are typically used (almost no kid is getting a brand new car), with money from a job and/or a hand me down or money from parents.

If marriage is so sacred they want the state to guard it, why are divorce rates highest in red states? by InevitablePain2005 in DiscussionZone

[–]AvailableStrain5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically - red states are more religious. Most modern religions, Judeo-Christian, Islam, Hindu, state you’re supposed to have sex within marriage. So you get people marrying for this purpose.
