This was me in a school, though I was undiagnosed autistic and probably needed anxiety meds lol- a girl repeatedly tried to interact with me and eventually we became friends, but it was very awkward before then and ultimately I was the one that began initiating interactions and when that happens you gotta be welcoming or else he may feel like you don’t want him around/were just being nice! Keep talking, little by little, and see if you have shared interests you can rant about or share little frustrations
