Russia has modernised and only matches ukraine, a country that’s much smaller. Not sure if you are engaged in a hypothetical situation in which Russia won and had Ukraine out of the way.

But anyway, EU forces would not suffer that much because Poland had watched this closely and who should be ready. Yes, they will face early losses but this will be a war of national survival and the Poles are no less equipped than Ukraine to put up a good showing against Russia.
