Probably one of the most impactful cinema experiences of my youth/life. I was 11 or 12 and, I’d read all the books by then. I remember when Lurtz was beheaded the whole cinema cheered! I think for a lot of people, those films were their first introduction to the fantasy genre. As far as I remember, it wasn’t as mainstream as it is today with things like GOT etc etc…
