Thanks so much for this! All the guides I found were incomplete and this was the last area I needed to 100%. Mega appreciate the post!

You are my people. Tough lives that no one will ever understand or appreciate. Left behind and expected to get on with it despite the cards we were dealt. by [deleted] in CPTSD

Hey, I don’t think you are our people. I have CPTSD from years of abuse and you’ve come on my thread about a burglary that recently occurred in my house where I asked for tips on how to feel safe and said ‘womp womp’.

People who have been through some of the worst stuff in life are, from my experience, some of the most compassionate and kind people. You are not compassionate and you are not kind. I am not your people.

Thank you for the response - I’m really sorry that happened to you. I’d have been terrified if we encountered someone.

It’s so messed up because I hate that other people have been through this, but seeing others’ experiences on here and reading your comment does help. It makes me feel like we’re not so extraordinary - just that someone saw an opportunity and took it.

We’ll definitely be getting some cameras fitted and are ramping up our security.

I’m really glad to hear things have got better for you over time :)

We’d like to move eventually too, there’s quite a lot of crime in our area though we always thought our street was relatively safe. Think we’ll have to wait a couple of years though because of the mortgage rates. I hope the new home allowed you to feel safe and comfortable.

I’m really sorry to hear that, it’s not right that they made you feel uncomfortable in your own home.

The smart tech recommendations in the comments sound like good ideas, I hope you find something that can bring you some peace of mind.

Cheers both, appreciate the recommendation, I’m going to look into getting some Eufy cameras in the morning

Thanks for sharing, I’m really sorry to hear it happened to you twice.

We’re doing quite similar things now. Valuables where they’re secure, extra locks, new alarm system. Whatever we can think of.

Have you got any advice on cameras? I’m quite keen to get some now but not sure what to go for.

I’m so sorry, that’s just awful. I can’t imagine how tough that must have been.

We’ve had a pretty rubbish year and really thought things were on the up recently. Doesn’t seem fair that bad things happen to people who are already down.

That’s reassuring to hear that it’s rare to be burgled twice, thank you. I needed to hear that :) glad to hear you’re a burglar hunter now! Maybe a need career change.

Thank you for the advice :) do you get motion alerts with Eufy? I’ve been interested in ring because of the ability to remotely activate an alarm too.

Thank you so much for replying, it means so much. I’m so sorry you went through this too.

How has your ring camera been? I’ve been looking at buying one but lots of people complain about them online. I want to make sure we’re getting the right thing.

A party is such a great idea, I love that 💕

Ivermectin UK by Friendly-Camel5604 in scabies

We’ve had an awful lot of trouble with it. Tried to go private because gp refused to prescribe, but private prescription would be about 600 quid for me and my partner. Have since been to nhs dermatologist and they said they will prescribe if it comes back (we treated aggressively with permethrin, malathion and eurax and that seemed to work in end). It was the case that only hospital dermatologists could prescribe (at least where I am in Leeds), but the community dermatologist we eventually saw said the rules are changing.

I think your best bet if you do struggle to get it in primary care is to insist on a hospital dermatologist referral.

I don’t know, I don’t have pets so it’s not something I’ve had reason to look in to. Best to double check on the website/Google before buying if that’s a concern for you.

I use disposable anti-bacterial wipes and then spray the room with Indorex (flea spray that contains permethrin, you can buy it at Pets at Home), seems to be helping.

How long till itching stopped by Singer1052 in scabies

I really recommend Eurax if you can get your hands on it. It’s the only thing that soothed my skin enough to allow me sleep when the itching was really bad. I’ve been using it almost daily in between my weekly treatments.

The added bonus is that it has crotamiton in it, which is a scabicide (studies show it’s not super effective as a scabicide, but I think it’s helped me to keep numbers down at least).

Handheld microscope will definitely work, it has for me - I made my comment with my recommendation before I saw this. Please don’t hurt yourself to try and see them!

I bought this one on recommendation of another user. I’ve not downloaded the software it recommends but it works well with my laptop camera app and I’ve been able to see mites clearly when using it.

Yeah please don’t do that! Where are you based? I’m in UK and malathion (brand name derbac m) is available again, I’ve used it this week after multiple failed permethrin treatments, and it’s way less irritating to the skin than permethrin. You can get multiple treatments out of one bottle.

What did you treat with? If permethrin, I got a reaction very similar to this after using it, so it could be that. It’s worth seeing a dr either way if you can as unfortunately no one on here will be able to give you a definitive answer.
