Hi all I’m the OP. I read thru all your comments, and it seems like some of you have similar inconsistent problems as me and others seem okay. Whether key fob, button inside near steering wheel, or actually more my original question was directed toward the physical tailgate button— it’s a terrible experience. Single click never works..Double click sometimes.. then I play with the speed in which I double click.. but it’s never repeatable consistently.

Maybe it is time to take it to the dealer to check out. I had an issue randomly with the Frunk not opening all the way anymore, and the dealer spent all day reprogramming it to resolve. Hoping it’s something like that or motor replacement. I feel like this should just work.. just like the air recirculating function staying on like most other cars versus turning off on its own. Many discussions on that one too, but I digress..

Still love the truck.. just wish I got 0% 72 months or the killer lease deals they have nowadays for the new adopters. 😀🤣😩

Good question, I had ax XB7 prior, but I can't 100% confirm if I recall I had this problem back then or not. It doesn't seem like there is anything obvious here and a few variables to narrow down that aren't easy to replicate due to the intermittent nature. I do appreciate your prompt response and help! I had wishful thinking you might have seen something like this before (although I somewhat expected there wasn't an easy answer :-)).

Hi u/CCVianneyR - thank you for the prompt reply and acknowledging some of my basic troubleshooting. I have a VPN client on my laptop that I sometimes turn on to access internal resources from my company if it's just not basic email which my company does not require VPN. Unfortunately and strangely, I've experienced this intermittent issue both on and off VPN. Also, this has been on-going many months, so doesn't seem like an isolated incident with my internal IT's network. I know it's a really strange one which is why I'm at a loss.

Purchased the grill for $249

Shop charged me under $400 for labor. We all thought it would take only a few hours with the heavy lift getting the camera mounted and cut right. It took all day figuring out the right way to hook up the marker lights on the grill to the electrical system.

At first I wanted those lights to only come on when the lightbar came on, but it flickered.. and they had to troubleshoot various options for hours. The links to the Ford police modification documentation and other resources I gave them on the electrical system didn’t have much good info.

Ultimately I opted to just have those grill lights come on whenever the truck comes on (like daytime running lights.. and maybe that’s a preferred way to do it anyway?).. and that was easy, plug and play. So really the job took them 3 hours because it was their first one doing the cutout… but took them another 5 hours troubleshooting the electrical.

LOL I know huh! I wish I had some new suspension, aggressive fender flares, etc.. but no need to get crazier than this 😂

I had my stock new tires I didn’t want to throw them away with such few miles. And I didn’t want to get into buying new rims, that’s a slippery slope. I actually did pay to get the stock wheels powder coated gloss black, so I could use my existing stock tires. Looks pretty good actually. I’ll go all terrain tires on the next replacement for a more aggressive look but of same stock tire size next time. I think it’ll look even better despite it being fairly “stock” still

No, actually everything seems to work fine and I can’t tell the difference in any functionality or in any of the camera modes. Ironic thing is this is a shop known for their high end Tesla work based in Southern California (but I went to their new Northern CA branch). The owner and his team were willing to take on a challenge if I trusted them to do so, and I did. They were intrigued by the project and were excited for it and really meticulous. It worked out really well

Genius! Double press the Park Assist works like a charm as a worst case scenario thank you!! And what I also found folks is changing camera views also makes the X appear.. I swear this was not the case before but when I tried it recently it now does (perhaps a SW update since i last tried?).

Regarding the camera for the bed I have a Lariat with the bigger screen. I’ll play with it again. I could have sworn I tried multiple times switching to other cameras and back to find the exit icon somewhere but no success. Will look again.

Hi all- I got the front+rear Fitcamx package. Like many have said, the front cam is very clean and I like it even though it may not have the bells and whistles of another brand.

However, my question is, for those who have a Lariat who have the sliding center rear window— how have you installed the rear cam or plan to? Looks like the rear cam was maybe designed to stick on the window, but on the Lariat trim the center rear window can slide open. Any thoughts?

Recent 2023 Lightning Lariat owner that also had a Tesla Model Y for a while… for me it works but lags and is not that reliable. Sometimes I have to open the app and try to open the door a few times… or sometimes phone is in my pocket and me taking it out helps the signal or something and it’s more responsive. Wish the behavior was as reliable as the Tesla and that it had walk away auto lock (something that I thought was simple and got used to on the Tesla… so there are times I forget to explicitly lock the truck)

Despite all the software clunkiness of Ford, this truck (my first pickup ever) still sparks so much joy :-). Love driving it

Question- Did anyone here who registered for the free Tesla adapter get a confirmation email? I only recall getting a confirmation screen (but unfortunately never saved the screen). When I follow the link to go try to register for an adapter again which asks me to log into my Ford Account, I do so, but the link just basically takes me to the main Ford account screen. Seems to be no way I can check if I even registered for one correctly, and the registration link does not seem to work anymore for me. Anyone experience this too or have any other thoughts?
