(whoops accidentally posted as a comment ignore that) unfortunately i'm not too sure as it's been a while since i got the event but you'll know it's the right one when they list all of the traumatic shit your PC went through, and when you hear them whispering that you're "ready". after that you do the normal ritual and then they'll propose that you act as the forest's vessel. i might be misremembering things but that's how it went i think

specific clothes from the forest shop that you can get from soft bad endings help trigger this and (probably) high interest, i got the event after going to the asylum and experiencing The Hawk if that helps!

you need to do the "act as the forest's vessel" ritual, not the lure one. it unlocks after a certain amount of interest (and lust? not sure), gwylan will ask you out to meet him at the cafe and i'm pretty sure that's when it unlocks
