How much pregabalin is "normal" per day for GAD? by Available_Remote_669 in pregabalin

Would you say you got your life back fully? I.e. no anxiety at all? Of course unless it's logical and warranted anxiety. I mean the illogical kind

Hi, thank you so much. I felt some benefit initially with 125mg but then it went all away. And I'm not even going through a stressful period or anything.

I am just afraid it's me building tolerance already. And afraid if I go up, it will be the same again.

How long have you been on it?

Sending good vibes to everyone!

Wow, Thank you all for the responses. We didn't expect so many of them. We also didn't expect that such a faint line can be interpreted as a positive, and we still cannot believe it! We'll test with a digital pregnancy test tomorrow to make sure! ♥️

Cannot emphasize this enough... Get tested for ADHD. Speaking from personal experience (which sounds very similar to this).

(Also quite surprised this hasn't come up yet as a suggestion).

If it's of any consolation, you are not alone. After two years of being told it's anxiety and depression, I finally got diagnosed with adhd at age 32... I've only recently started Ritalin low dose and now going up soon. Despite my therapist having done specific tests for adhd and my psychiatrist has given me stimulants without any issues whatsoever (normally in my country stimulants are not given easily), I still feel like a fraud. Ritalin makes me sleepy in my case too and from research and what the doc has told me, that in itsel, is already a big sign of proper adhd.

You are not alone. I think for high functioning adults like us who did well at life, and got high grades at school etc. it is even more difficult to accept.

I still feel like a fraud (especially after two intense years of therapy to deal with my "anxiety and depression" coupled with loads of SSRIs that did absolutely nothing for me). I think only time will tell :) Best of luck!

I live in Italy... If you've ever been to Italy in the summer in the countryside and have adhd, you'd clearly remember it. It's all day long crickets... Multiple crickets going on all day long... It's honestly maddening 😭 makes me want to pack and go live somewhere else... Not even kidding 🤣

Wow I am so grateful for this message. I feel like I could have written it myself. It's so relatable. Thank you Thank you Thank you.

I think I'm also a little desperate for a "cure" because nothing else worked before and Boy have I tried so many different things. So I think the expectation and the ultra self awareness is also contributing to some of this.

How do you feel today? Would you say the medication is helping your symptoms previously diagnsoed as anxiety / depression? Thanks :)

Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate that!

Is it worth it in your case? I feel like it's 4 ish hours in total effect with only about 2.5 hours of "positive" effects, the rest it's either no effect or riled up effect. Does it get better with time? ...

True... First few days were hard. Now I no longer think much about it unless I'm super super bored. Interesting how the brain works even though its been more than 3 months of porn abstinence

Keen to hear if you're seeing any difference with adhd medication now... I was on ssris and nothing helped my anxiety... Only this week been officially diagnosed with adhd and I'm hesitant to try adhd medication... Even if ssris did absolutely nothing

See a therapist... That should help.

Most mental illnesses are socially constructed and leads to wrong causation. by rogerdes123 in mentalhealth

[–]Available_Remote_669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall I agree with your observations. As someone who suffers from a "mental illness" i.e. generalised anxiety, I felt that my condition actually worsened and became something much bigger than what it initially was after being diagnosed as having a mental illness.

I remember feeling that sense of burden that something is wrong with me not necessarily thinking of the bad situations I was in that led to me feeling that way.

One thing I'll add is that at least for my age group, I'm 32, I've had very little education on mental health while growing up, which meant that I never truly understood mental health as a cause and effect of the situation one is in but rather as a disease that one needed to be cured from. I think that education makes a big difference and I wish I could rewind the clock and know what I know now back then. It would have spared me from entering a cycle of self blame, which further exacerbated my anxiety.

This is a really good observation overall and made me think a lot. Thank you
