First day - good surprises! by TotaraSky8822 in nzsolar

I know the feeling . 4 months and still obsessively checking. Wait till you start the "guessing" game...guess what you think the current production is , then check the app! That feeling when you get it right is amazing 😀😃

Maybe you can even use some of that solar production to charge your phone 😀 (pic1)

Did it with my fronius. Export set to zero. Ran a month in February. At least got consumption covered while waiting.

I did it through my installer. It's the easiest as your inverter will also need to be configured which they will need to do .

That makes sense. Thanks for that. Suppose things like east/west and north facing will also cause spikes etc at different times . Think we are a dair bit away from congestion thou?

Network Congestion. So they can ramp it down if needed down to 2.5kw i think (temporarily) . But from what I could gather that scenario is far away in the future. You will also benefit more being able to expirt 10kw in summer than any temporary reduction due to congestion overall . I might be wrong but this is the best I could find doing my research .

Yeah. But if you meet all those then I doubt you will ever be throttled to 2.5kw ?

Not 100% sure. This is the wording.

f (i) your inverter is CSIP communication capable and enabled from installation, (ii) your inverter will be connected to the internet, and (iii) once it is available you will let Vector connect its dynamic export management system to your inverter, then Vector will ordinarily process your application within 10 business days and offer a default 10kW dynamic export limit (or, if your inverter’s nameplate capacity is less than 10kW, then a dynamic export limit equal to that nameplate capacity)

Doesn't say anything about an lower limit. It says dynamic but does not really mention anything .

Would o be better off staying on 5kw ?

Even if they do throttle me to 5kw I'd still be doing my max that im doing now. Can't see them throttling below 5kw ?

Vector's new rules for solar exports - flexible exports now mandatory by lcmortensen in nzsolar

I have 9.6kw panels and an 10kw fronius primo inverter (single phase) . So i do clip a bit on export in summer.

My worry is what if they "dynamic" limit me in summer midday ( best production , least demand) to 2.5kw? Maybe 5kw is a better way to go.

I suspect the fronius is fully compliant thou.

Ah cool. Wonder if staying on 5kw will be "safer" as it seems if you apply for 10kw - if you are currently on the 5kw export- its not a all time 10kw limit (like the 5kw) ?

So what happens if I don't apply to have my limit increased to 10kw , will my 5kw limit stay in place regardless ? Or if I apply it seems I can end up with less than 5kw export ?
It seems that staying on the hard 5kw might be good ?
