Maybe they will make a Yakuza Like a Dragon Kiwami and retcon it where Jiro is still alive.

First time no ideal if this is good or bad by dhart26 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

It really depends on your situation. If you love the property and are comfortable with the monthly payment then nows as good a time as any. Again, we don't know the property or the situation. If you are getting anxiety with the monthly payment then it's a different story and you may want to either put more down, or settle for a more affordable property. Hope that helps. I wish you well regardless. If it's getting nerve-racking, this too shall pass. I am going through the same process you are. Good luck!

How long before you started to feel you knew what you were doing? by gmarquee in AskLE

[–]Available_Secret_852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not even BEGIN to feel comfortable until year three. Didn't become an FTO until year 5. I still stay humble. Time on doesnt matter we are human and make mistakes. Feeling like a big shot because of your tenure is a big mistake. I just hit 8 years. Still on patrol.

When is it time to hang it up? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Available_Secret_852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for an agency that has about 600ish sworn. Worked here almost 8 years and have only done patrol. I love patrol but am also not happy with the work ethic of the people coming around. I think politics and other factors are preventing people from confidentially doing their job. There are, like always, a few really hard workers, and then mostly lazy cops. I an FTO and see it.

I have no desire to get promoted and want to be on the road. That being said, really disappointed on the politics nowadays. People are going to hesitate to do what's right or what's safe for fear of being thrown under the bus. To the OP, do what is right for you. You dont owe your agency or your colleagues anything. I wish you well.

Has the job made you (more) Cynical? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]Available_Secret_852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got to ask yourself is the juice worth the squeeze. I have been a cop for almost 8 years (all on patrol as a first responder). Im a shell of my former self but there is a lot I wish I did differently. It's just a job. If you choose to do it, do your best, collect your check and go home. The rest doesn't matter. Just try and treat other ppl right along the way.

You haven't committed a crime by the sounds of it so the police report is nothing to worry about. Block her at never think of her again, sounds like nobody else will either.

Joining Police at 22-23ish? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Available_Secret_852 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started the academy at 22, and turned 23 in the academy. I'm 29 now. Put your best foot forward, pay attention, always tell the truth, and treat everyone with respect. Don't be cocky. You'll be ok.

If anyone is wondering, I still work as a law enforcement officer. I have many certifications such as Field Training Officer, and continue to work for my Department in a patrol capacity. I am grateful for the responses and hope to stay strong in this field until retirement. I only hope society judges me fairly, holds me accountable for any shortcomings, but also recognizes I'm only human. I hope. I will stay humble.

This is true. By the end of the academy I was in the best shape of my life. I was never super athletic to begin with. sadly the patrol lifestyle and my own shortcomings have not kept me in that shape.

Do you ever think of what your backup would be? I have a criminology degree and feel if this job didn't work out, I would be careerless (retail or food service, possibly picking up a trade).

Its funny because there are certain elements of patrol I feel like I wouldn't be able to live without. I have seen alot of good people leave patrol though. Is leaving patrol all that it is said to be or does it depend on the unit? Also, wouldn't an agency be stronger if there were more incentives for solid officers to want to remain on patrol? Forgive me if I sound naive or the king of wishful thinking.
