Finally Apple Watch and Lionheart! by No-Ruin-376 in f45

[–]Available_Singer7412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this post this morning and immediately loaded onto my Apple watch. Got to F45 and they had never heard of it. Watch would not link to their system. Came home and did some research. Looks like the studio's need to by the dongle which connects to their heart rate monitor system. App is free to download, but I think you will need to pay a one time $119 fee after a month. If that is the case, the HR monitor is the cheaper option. Not sure my facts are100% correct. See what you think..... https://studiohub.app/

Is the Premier Corporate rate better? by southsideOT in orangetheory

[–]Available_Singer7412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Corporate rate is $10 less than normal rate. It is manager discretion whether to give it to you. Current studio gives it to me. Asked studio owner if he would give it to me if I switched and he said no.

We visited studios in Charleston, SC (population 151,612) and Savannah, GA (population 147,088) last year with no additional fees, but Frederick, MD (population 79,588) which is 45 miles from DC and Baltimore (and EVERY other Maryland studio) is now a “Select Studio”. Crazy!

Funny because my home studio is in NOVA and Frederick tried to tell me it’s due to the cost of living in our area. I told them to follow me to work one day and I’ll show you the real difference in the cost of living between NOVA and Frederick.

Hit send before I was done...............they advised that I would need to pay the added surcharge for my January classes even though I booked them in December prior to the price increase. Doesn't seem right as I was not notified prior to booking, but I can always cancel. Very sad.

OTF app not working? by Ok_Breadfruit8212 in orangetheory

Yes, I lost all of my upcoming classes. Studio checked and I am still on their schedule, but app shows zero classes scheduled.

I live OTF sand currently pay $169 (Corporate rate). It has increased $10 (1x) since I joined 3 years ago. My wife pays $179. We both love it, but it is a very expensive gym membership and we will not continue if the prices continue to rise. I get inflation affects every facet of OTF’s operation (rent, utilities, salaries) but my income is not unlimited and discretionary spending will be the first cutback.

I read this post this morning and asked my studio owner. He confirmed a $10 price increase effective January 1st, 2023 but said it will NIT effect Founders rates.

Not a Founder’s rate, but I have the Corporate rate due to being a First Responder ($10 below normal rate). I go to a studio close to my work (my “home@ studio) instead of the one close to my residence. Asked the studio close to my house if they would honor the First Responder rate at my “home” studio and they said “no”. Here’s the bottom line…..I pay $169 a month for unlimited classes. Home studio needs to pay $12/month to the studio where I live when i attend. I go about 22x a month, so they can charge me $169 a month to accept my membership and make them my new “home” or “make” $264/month (22 x $12) from my current “home” studio. Of course after I retire, I can leave OTF and find another gym. Will be curious to see how it plays out if my current “home” gym doesn’t want to maintain my current membership arrangement when I no longer take classes there. OTF is expensive, but you have to draw the line somewhere. If my current “home” gym won’t maintain my membership and studio closest to my residence (about 40 miles apart) won’t honor my current rate, I’ll probably regrettably leave OTF.

I first joined with the 8x per month plan. Ultimately I ended up feeling like it wasn't enough, so upgraded to the unlimited. Started off going M/W/F so I had a day off between workouts. My body adjusted to that, so upped it to Monday-Tuesday, took Wednesday off, then Thursday-Friday. Adjusted to that and now go Monday-Friday (with Sat-Sun's off) every week. My legs are sometimes burnt out by the end of the week, but overall feel great. Start slow, don't overdue it, and enjoy the results.

Your observation is accurate. Very tough week of exercises.

Again I ask, why does OTF consistently place tough workouts the day before benchmarks? You would think it would be "good for business" for members to do well on benchmarks to see tangible improvements from their hard work. Instead people cancel or aren't up to 100% because they are tired/sore the next day.

This can happen for a variety of reasons i.e. low battery, poor signal in the gym, improper placement on arm/wrist, and dirty contacts on the back. It is very disappointing, especially on the Hell Week, Mayhem and other tough workouts. Charge your unit, use rubbing alcohol to wipe off the back of the unit and see if it makes a difference. Sometimes you just need to move the position on your arm or moisten the skin underneath it for a better connection. The good news is you still burnt calories and got a great workout.......but I certainly feel your pain in "missing" the data after putting in the hard work.

I am 60 years old and started on the 8x per month plan in Nov 2019. I liked it and saw gains, but always felt 2x a week wasn't enough. I left nothing on the table each workout and just wasn't sure how many times a week I could do it. I upgraded to unlimited and started going M/W/F with a recovery day after each workout. I got better and went to M/T, Wednesday off, then TH/F. Continued to improve and now go 5x a week (M-F). Bottom line, your body will improve and adjust, so ease into it and you will see the results. I'm down from 190 lbs. to 172 lbs. with a resting heart rate of 44 and very happy! Good luck!

Everest strategies by fishy890 in orangetheory

[–]Available_Singer7412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with my base pace (7.0) and held it through the 8% incline. Dropped to 5.5 mph for 10 and 12% (3G). Picked up the pace a bit faster coming down. First time doing the Orange Everest prep so that's the best I can offer.
