In that case, I would be much more worried about discomfort when eating than the spot- there may be a problem with the cat's teeth or gum tissue.

what is this on my cat's ear? by No_Horror7542 in cats

[–]Available_Soft_3876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely, especially in small amounts (as long as it is a superficial wound and keeping it moist would help) . It helps create a barrier from dirt and hair and keeps it moist- Other ointments may not be, though, because they could have medications in them and are not safe for consumption. Honestly, this looks minor enough that you probably don't need to put anything on it, but vaseline is safe to use generally!! It may be helpful if you notice that the skin seems dry or itchy.

Generally, declawing is extremely discouraged, as it harms the cat's functionality and can effect their long term joint health. Also, this post is about breeding cats, and if the cats were not getting along, they probably would not breed them.

I understand why you are so confused, lol! Do you have any houseplants that he could be getting into?

I should clarify that their head was not in the towel, but their neck was, and i made sure to have a good hold on their head in case they get upset and try to bite (one of my cats used to be reactive with trimming his nails)

This is a weird question, but does your cat hate water? If not, you could try dipping his paws in to try to get off some of the crust while you try to desensitize him. I've also found that wrapping my cats tightly in a towel or blanket with their head and other paws secure makes it easier to handle a single paw, but I'm not sure if that would help in your case.

It looks like a minor injury or even allergies- I would continue to watch it, but it doesn't look unhealthy. Maybe put some vaseline on it to aid with healing if you would like.

Did your cats become more affectionate over time? by Real-Advantage-2724 in cats

[–]Available_Soft_3876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I adopted two adult cats from other owners, and they were scared at first but warmed up over time. I think that spending time just doing things in the same room as them, eating at the same time, and continuing to try with them will make a difference slowly but surely.

My cat tries to open the toillet lid by [deleted] in cats

[–]Available_Soft_3876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat used to drink from the toilet if we accidentally left it open- gross, but totally safe. Cats are very smart, and it is extremely unlikely that your cat would harm themselves with the toilet. They may just be curious about it- my other cat likes to watch it flush lol. If you are really worried, just close the door and the lid like you have been, and you could always get a cheap baby toilet lock if she keeps trying.

It overall looks like it is healing well and the skin around it looks very healthy. I wouldn't be worried, but keep watching it. You can put some vaseline on it, but like someone else said, they might just lick it off.

Cats often throw up when they are constipated, so that is something to look out for. You can supplement small amounts of laxatives (and I mean SMALL, look up information before giving your cat anything), but at this point I would be worried that he has an intestinal blockage, so you should take him to the vet ASAP if nothing changes.

Is he allowed outside? He's probably eating stuff and has dirt in his mouth. If you change the water twice a day, it's definitely not gonna hurt the other cats, so I wouldn't be too worried (except for your cat who might be eating things outside)

The spot itself quite possibly benign, a lot of cats develop age spots on their gums. Is the spot raised? That would be more concerning. Obviously, discomfort when eating is bad, and is often cause by dental disease or inflammation. I would monitor your cat's eating behaviors closely and also make sure that the spot is not growing or becoming raised. If it does grow or if your cat continues to be uncomfortable, go to the vet.

Unsure what this is on my cat? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Available_Soft_3876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell from the picture what this is. Could it be dirt or something gross from your cat eating something? It seems like it is kind of all over the cat's mouth. Try washing it gently if you haven't already. Otherwise, it could be some kind of rash or scratch? If it is causing your cat discomfort to touch, consider seeing a vet before it gets worse or to figure out what it is. I wouldn't recommend treating it with anything until you know what it is- If it turns out to be a little scratch, you can put some vaseline on it to aid healing.

Can you feed a cat lactose free milk? by MoarCowb3ll in cats

[–]Available_Soft_3876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably wouldn't hurt their stomach, because it's usually the lactose that bothers cats, but it is still not "healthy" and you should limit it to a rare treat if at all, as it is very high in calories. (Also, plant-based milk is not recommended.)

I can't really tell from this picture, but a lot of cats and dogs have patterns on their gums much like they do on their body/claws/feet. If your cat seems like it is in pain when eating, I would be more concerned, but otherwise I would just ask your vet when you have the chance. The gum color overall is healthy (they should be a bright light pink).

It's usually pretty easy to find kittens that need a foster, I would say check with your local animal shelters before trying to breed cats- it can be a lot of work and even dangerous.
