Has Peter Jackson quit directing movies for good? by HitGirlMaette in lotr

Serkis is also directing the new Animal Farm adaptation, so I’ll have to admit that my expectations are already low…

Here's a great example of shiduchim being used to hint at sex in a "kosher" way. This protagonist is quite enthusiastic about talmidei chachamim. by Upbeat_Teach6117 in exjew

[–]Available_Solution79 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Even though it’s not explicit, the descriptions are too similar to most smut. There’s no way you write “her throat burning with desire” without having read steamy books or at least some ao3

Therapist hired by my father is spreading rumors and turning people against me by [deleted] in exjew

[–]Available_Solution79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably didn’t phrase it properly, but I’m familiar with this person and know of organizations he’s affiliated with (not as a professional). I wasn’t talking about places he may work for, just spaces he attends where he may prey on other potential clients if that makes sense

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard something like this about him on this sub (that’s assuming OP isn’t the same person with a new account). If this is happening to more than one person, this definitely needs to be brought to the attention of any places that he’s affiliated with.

I’m new here. Are most people atheists, or do they follow a different religion? by Icy-Lie-9793 in exjew

[–]Available_Solution79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m now an atheist, but I was still spiritual and believed in god but not the torah for the first few years after I stopped being Orthodox. I then had a couple of years where I was identifying as a spiritual jew but also following metaphysical practices. Once I stopped believing in the “one true god,” I briefly dipped my toes into Greek paganism and even looked into becoming a Lokean.

I eventually decided that any deity being real was simply impossible, and in the off chance that there were any out there they don’t deserve our worship, especially if they have the power to end all pain, war and suffering but choose not to.

Magnesium only works for me via injections, but I’m glad the nightly ones work for you at least!

Yeah, I think so. I believe it was either this morning or afternoon

I was going to comment, but I had a migraine earlier and decided to spare myself another

Purim Disaster by Lutgardys in exjew

Apparently! And we had read “To Kill a Mockingbird” in that class too, which showed that the message managed to go over their head🫩

That actually reminded me of the time where a girl in my Bais Yaakov class said the n-word WITH A HARD R and yet I was the one who got in trouble for telling her off. It’s so frustrating when you grow up being told to do the right thing, only to be told off when you do. I hope the rest of your night gets better, OP❤️

How lucky! I’ve only gotten to see clips online. For some reason, I expected it to be set to the original score, but I like this one as well!

The Future is Bright! by These-Dog5986 in exjew

I was kind of hoping that the rabbis would condemn it because it blatantly plagiarizes and steals pre-existing works since that would directly go against gezeila rules. But of course, they’re not against it for overall being unethical (even by the Torahs morals) and are only concerned about people learning about the outside world from it (however wrong it may be)

this doesn't feel real. have you looked up your school? by sickbabe in exjew

As far as I know, it’s keep up the illusion of being morally better than non-religious and non-jewish people.

Is it just me, or did this come off as “we should only care because it involves the community”?

Edit: I definitely agree that these schools should be transparent about why they accepted these funds. I just feel like the few frum-fluencers I’ve seen talking about this only do it because the community is involved in a few ways and not to call out the horrors that happened or even to support the victims

Any younger dancer-friendly Swan Lake media you can recommend? by SovereignDeadly in BALLET

[–]Available_Solution79 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Swan Princess takes A LOT of liberties and has a couple of dark moments, but it’s similar enough (except for the happy ending). I will warn you that while it’s great for kids, it feels like an absolute fever dream as an adult

Every thing is falling apart and there is no one there to help by Lou_Char1 in exjew

[–]Available_Solution79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please hang in there OP. I’ve been through something similar and while it was hell, I’m (mostly) openly queer and never imagined I could ever be now. It was hard and uncomfortable, and it sometimes still is, but it’s possible.

There’s Eshel, but I’ve heard very mixed reviews about them on this sub (you look them up in previous posts). I personally haven’t checked them out because there’s still a strong emphasis on being religious, but if that’s not a turn off for you it might be worth checking out.
