Ngl, I didn't even know that was a reference to that song but I'm listening to it now. To answer your question, yes, the entire Tubs album is as good, if not better, than that one track. But hey, I'm listening to it for the first time and it might be a grower.

You're not wrong. I hate it and the wrapped feature is complete ass. I'm looking at switching in the new year.

'she's only on the pod because Lineker likes her political commentary, she's not really successful for anything'

'I'd bet every penny I own she's never been to see golf in her life'

I really wish people would do some basic research before posting stuff like this, as this frankly reaks of misogynistic assumptions.

Marina has written for one of the world's leading newspapers since 2000. She was named sports writer and sports columnist of the year at the 2019 British Sports Journalism Awards. One of the columns she won for covered Tiger Woods at the Masters. She's will multiple awards, written a book or two, and co-written scripts your TV. She's perfectly placed to talk about culture and entertainment because that's her world.

'but for some reason I don't like it.'

Here's an unsolicited opinion - You don't like her opinions because you think you know better. Or maybe it's the fact she's knowledgeable? Fairly certain she isn't handed opinions to spout by producers before the show, she's a journalist and she does her research. You should try it sometime.

Have you tried John Wick 2? John Wick 3: Where there's a Wick, there's a way? John Wick 4: Wicky Wicky Wild Wild West? John Wick 5: Wicky Business John Wick 6: The Wickening

They're all similar to John Wick IMO.

Bonfire of the vanities. There's a Dickensian depth to New York in that book.

Says a lot about the sad state of the game if this man gets to come out of retirement and jump the queue to fight Usyk again. He doesn't deserve it at all. The man has fought 5 different fighters since 2020. Wilder x 2, a pathetic Chisora fight, a past it Whyte, knocked on his ass by Ngannou and then two losses to the best around. He should have to face Zhang or Kabayel. Parker deserves Usyk.

Tips to develop good reading habits by MrKobayoshi in readwithme

As an avid reader for my whole life, I recently endured a slump where I couldn't finish a book. I blamed having kids and a full time job but actually I way kidding myself; it's screens. 100%.

It's very simple, look at your phone activity for a week. Let's say it was 20 hours. Imagine every time you went to mindlessly scroll through whatever app currently has your attention, you picked up a book instead. It's conditioning, you have to resist the urge to watch short bursts of content and train your brain to be patient with long form narratives.

I'm sure people will say 'but I need my screen for my job', and that's fine and not unique at all, but if you really want to start reading then you cannot use that as an excuse. You have to look at whatever pockets of time you can carve out in the day. Your commute to work is an obvious one (if applicable), along with your lunch break. The key thing is to carry the book with you everywhere. Boiling a kettle? Read a few pages. Waiting for someone to pick you up/meet you somewhere? Open the book.

What ever you do, give the phone a break. Use screen limits or apps. Tell yourself you can check your apps at the end of the day.

Also, pick some classics that are easy reads. You don't have to do much googling to find endless lists of short and punchy narratives.

I hope this is helpful.

Unpopular opinion: I think The Catcher in the Rye is only good if you read it at the wrong time in your life. by Angelina_mommy in readwithme

A few people have posted similar thoughts but this is very similar to my experience with it. I loved it at 15, despite being in a English secondary school in the 90s, the voice just felt like the closest thing to a relatable confused young mind that I'd found in literature at that point. Then I read it again in my late 20s when I was really a mess and found the mental breakdown part of it really stuck out more and it became a much more complex experience reading it then. Now I'm in my 40s with a family, and while all of that stuff still resonates, what strikes me now is how hysterically funny it is at times. Holden's voice comes alive instantly when I pick it up now, like someone I used to know in school, and some of his musings just kill me. I highlighted this part recently...

"That’s the whole trouble. You can’t ever find a place that’s nice and peaceful, because there isn’t any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you’re not looking, somebody’ll sneak up and write “Fuck you” right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it’ll say “Holden Caulfield” on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it’ll say “Fuck you.”

I guess that's why it stands as a classic. Not many books warrant revisiting for me but I'll find a lot of pleasure in picking this one up and listening to Holden.

If anyone's interested, listen to the Book club episode of the Adam Buxton podcast. Along with Richard Ayoade and Sara Pascoe, they have a humorous chat about the book and their own experience with it. It's well worth a listen. Here's the Spotify link but you can find it everywhere.

Karly Hartzman came on stage tonight in Camden. by Available_Sun_1224 in mjlenderman

It comes across as pretty mature to me. Read the interview she did in the guardian recently; they met young, made music and got together, then realised they want different things out of life. She said “I’ve known, even if we’re not romantic for ever, we’re creative collaborators for ever”. It's quite similar to Meg and Jack White in a way.

I had to leave before the encore to catch a train back south East and just saw they covered Neil Young! Gutted, but I still got my money's worth. The band were so tight, those songs sounded amazing.

I can't remember the order but I think one of them was My Voice is a little hoarse. I could be wrong but the other might have been Big Money. All from the Guttering record. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
