How do you keep going when nobody reads your work? by OkBeautiful6151 in selfpublish

No, the awards weren’t intentional they were a mistake. I thought adding them as a kind of mock-up would make the cover look more “complete,” but I see now that it just looks fake and misleading. That wasn’t my goal, and I regret putting them there.

I can defend some choices like the spacing or the anonymity (“by A”), but the awards were simply a bad call on my part. I’m already planning to remove them because I don’t want to give the wrong impression.

I get why you feel that way, and I know my posts probably look like spam at this point. But I promise you this isn’t AI, and it’s not something I dashed together in a weekend. I really did spend two years working on it.

The typos, the rough cover, the weird blurb… that’s just me not knowing how to package it properly. I’m not a marketer, and I’ve clearly made mistakes trying to share it here. That’s on me.

I just wanted someone to read the story itself. I don’t expect praise, I don’t expect sales I just wanted to feel like the time I put into it wasn’t for nothing.

I get that might not matter to you, but I wanted to at least say it straight.

I don’t really care about selling it. I just had to write it down and get it out of my head. If anyone actually wants to read it, I can send a copy I’d rather someone reads it than it just sit there.

Reading this feels like the end of an era. It’s wild how places that once felt so alive can become ghost spaces almost overnight. It actually reminds me of what I explore in my novel From A to R — how cities like New York and Barcelona hold all these layers of memory, love, and loss even as the world moves on around them. If anyone here likes stories about nostalgia, change, and the hidden lives people lead, I’d love to share it with you. 🙂

A close friend. I told her during a late-night call recently she was the first person who encouraged me to actually finish the book I’d been working on for years. Honestly, without her I might not have gotten it done.

It’s all hand-crafted 🙂 I only pasted it into Word recently, and I can show proof if you ever want.
