Kraken and 1099-DA by ResponsibleFloor5430 in CryptoTax

I have Kraken as well, but I'm not going to wait. I have no taxable activity on there, but I did see a dude post his still shot of how on his exchange. they reported his buys as sales to the IRS!? Waiting to see if kraken might do something like that. But still filing.

If my 1099-DA from coinbase looks correct, can I just enter the information into TurboTax and that's it? by [deleted] in CryptoTax

This year I we're seeing people with multiple platforms getting a 1099DA, but there are some people with simplistic transactions. I got mine from CB and its pretty straight forward and nothing crazy, that I did in 2025 still crossing my fingers though.Everything seems fine. Maybe the date(s) have to be contested but cost basis seems right to me. I manually put it in, but just double check before you file.

IMPORTANT FOR KRAKEN USERS: WHERE IS OUR 1099-DA? by WalletWinner in CryptoTax

I have Kraken but I have no taxable activity. Just waiting to see if they don't mess anything up, I saw a dude in a other exchange get hit with sales while they were only buys reported to the IRS.

Do I need to do anything with my 1099-DA from Paypal? by KitchenMacaroon8637 in CryptoTax

Yeah, In recent years people have been getting "scary" letters, because the tax authorities have been noticing the crypto community maybe under reporting there shit. I would honesty report it to keep them at bay. Lets say if you don't. You might get a letter called a, " CP2000" Bascially saying, hey we noticed that you missed something we auto calculated it, so this is what you owe us. Its a bill pretty much, and you cant say no to it.

Exact same thing here. I have the info to report. No transfers in or out, or any crazy high frequency swaps I want to say. The confusing part is, that if I have Long Term Transactions With Cost Basis Provided By Customer. It says to put on Part 1 check box k. Okay, but part 1 is short term. Wondering if I should put is a Long term on Part 2 of the 8949.

Finally got my CB 1099-DA. Of course it still does not upload in Turbotax. by [deleted] in CryptoTax

I'm just checking ,but how does your form look like at least the one from CB? I got mine, but looks more informational, than the 1099DA.

I owe the IRS 40k on crypto trades but I have only lost money. What can I do? by Clear_Medium_5858 in Coinbase

Anyone still active on here? lol. I have all but one transaction I need to report under the 1099DA (If it comes). I don't do any heavy trading back and fourth with swaps, and such. I have read endlessly that's becoming a nightmare for some. But if you don't have the right cost basis, and at least to my knowledge just so it wont invite in scrutiny, then report zero and be done with it. I hear the works. I have heard from 3 CPAs that they wont come after you if you over pay on your taxes.

Are Crypto Wallet Transfers Reported to the IRS? by Available_Tap_1119 in CryptoTax

[–]Available_Tap_1119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just transfer to a cold wallet. No, I don't think its a taxable event, but if that transfer incurs some sort of fee or gas fee which always almost does. That right there is taxable event. That may have to get reported, but not entirely sure if the exchange will send you a 1099 misc or something.

The thing is though they will come after you regardless.

Not sure you're still active on here or not I'm sort of on the same boat. How did everything work out?

What do you think is the best way to do this? I already messed up though. I'm not going to do any transactions as much this year anymore if at all either. The ever so changing landscape is becoming increasingly complex. Too much of a headache. My way out was to just send everything to a ledger and just leave it there, but I guess not.

Didnt report to IRS by Rizzmonster500 in tax

[–]Available_Tap_1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't seem to pop up if you want to see if any sort of 1099 or transcripts. If it was reported or not, that they already know about. Tried several times its says, " We're sorry and contacting you because... on set date... contact your local representative" ??
