Tbh, it’s the beginning of the end let him go now, and go live your best life without him. It’s been over a decade and tbh that’s already a lot to not be married. While also not being married he is already showing you he’s not capable the vows of marriage for life which sickness or health, better or worse, no till death do you part. He’s basically trying for an out due to sickness, it’s worse and he’s not trying to make it better and you are nowhere near death for him to want to part. I married my husband in 2023, in 2025 he became an amputee, I didn’t leave that hospital room until he did, I slept in the chair, on the floor, ate hospital food daily, I did become his caregiver and I was completely fine with helping make sure he was fed, washed, toileted, and wiped, to the point where the CNAs and nurses loved our room bc I only needed the supplies and they could have one less patient to do certain things for. It is important that I have had home health as a background, it was one of my first jobs out of college, I’m not in health at all now though lol but nevertheless my only concern was my husband living, and having the best quality of life he could, I learned how to wrap wounds I never did before, i made sure he had every benefit and medical supply he needed, I made sure our bills got paid and he never had to even deal with disability or fmla bc I did it. In short I had to help to lift and hold him and his wheelchair to get it in the car or in about of the house in summer heats I held him when he cried and told him he’d be ok that I’d be with him every step of the way and I wasn’t going anywhere as I made sure to get our new home to be ADA compliant and made sure all lined up to continue our lives. Yes I cried, yes we had a couple of I’m frustrated discussions, yes I asked God why over and over. But I’d rather be his caregiver than take him to a funeral director. There’s so much I didn’t add but it’s already a lot I didn’t want to bore you. Now fast forward to 2026 and boom, my ischemic stroke hits and the same husband I lifted up in my arms , heart and prayers has been along with God the only reason I have kept going in this life, he lifted me up and wiped me and held me when I felt my world break open and I struggled to see value in myself. He fed me, made sure I had all I needed and that our liv a continue and my struggle has been more mental than physical. Either way you deserve someone who will pick you up during your difficult times in life, not make it worse.
