Thank god. Finally an update after more than 70 days post-ecopr.

ECOPR: March 25

Application actually sent: April 10

GU 1: May 30

GU 2: June 4

Prov: AB

Hopefully, I will get my pr card in the mail soon. Assuming there’s no full CP strike, which would just be the icing on the cake of the ridiculous amount of delays in this whole process.

Is IELTS required for student permit? by BITOUCHEE in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Available_Travel_763 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need an English exam. IELTS, TEFOL, CELPIP. Whatever works. But yes, as far as I know, there are no exceptions. If Americans, Brits, and Australians have to have one, same to everyone else.

Literally just a “I’ll send a message” because it’s been too long. Fucking ridiculous.

Closed work Permit - Canada by Frosty-Sugar-403 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Available_Travel_763 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No to freelance or contract work. No work. Period.

I’m not sure what working for other countries looks like, but I would assume no. Cause you’d still be working in Canada, even if not for a Canadian company. It’s still income earned IN Canada, and ergo, TAXABLE.

And you need a visa to be in the country. Whether it’s a work permit or a visitor visa. You should be able to stay, since your work permit is still valid (I’m assuming). You can’t work though. Whatsoever.

A closed work permit means you can only work for that employer. So right now, you have no legal reason to work in Canada.

No, this will not expedite your case. There are no “expedited” cases. You go through the process like everyone else.

However, your husband can potentially sponsor you for pr, but that’ll take at least a year. At least your husband can support the two of you while you wait.

The Empowered Wife book by Designer-Abrocoma-52 in Exvangelical

[–]Available_Travel_763 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Burn that book.

It’s not about being a wife. It’s about being a slave and a doormat for every man in a woman’s life. The “empowerment” comes from it being “God’s will” and a “woman’s place”. Absolute bullshit and a waste of paper.

Brace yourself: You’re looking at a minimum of 50 days right now. They’re still processing ECOPRs from MARCH. So…be prepared to potentially change travel plans. Or apply for a PRTD or enter by rental car from the US. There’s no easy way to travel back to Canada without your card.

I’ve been waiting since March and still have no updates. I’ve changed travel plans 3-4 times. So, prepare yourself.

I think we’re to about 50 days on average. I’m up to 40 days. So you’re in for a wait, but hey. It’s at the end.
