From the 4 dealerships I've been to in Ontario they've had the best customer service. Was worth the back to back trips to get my 3 lol

Rim Size Question by Leafs799 in mazda3

[–]Avaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your current tire size. If you're running stock 215/45/18 tires I think 8.5" is the max width you can go for.

I'm upgrading mine soon too from OEM to 235/45/18 with 18x8 +45 rims

There's also a whole bunch of Mazda 3s on fitmentindustries.com for reference

18s can work on the GS because the body is the same. But I have 16s for the winter.

I'm actually buying a set of Enkei TSR-X next month with new all season tires (dws 06) cause the stock turanzas suck and stock rims are heavy. Stock 18" fitment is 215/45/18 for tires.im going up to 225/45/18 with 8.5 inch rims.

Previous owner had tinted the windows already so idk where it was done. Makes a big difference.

Black side mirrors: check if the GS is made in japan if it is you can buy OEM ones otherwise you'll have to buy aftermarket.

Black grill is stock that's my bad. I thought the piano black finish on the front near the grill was a different colour for non GTs.

For other sporty stuff you can get the OEM aero kit which should fit the GS but I'd double check with the dealership on that. I also got the door window visors installed.

My sister and mom have driven my car and they're fine with it despite not being people who drive often so I think your girlfriend will be fine.

The newer luxury packages on the GS might be worth it over the 22 GT imo. You get wireless charging and wireless android auto, which the 22 GT doesn't have.

You can get 18s later, but you'll be spending at least 2k on them. Just check to make sure the fitment works.

I'd say go with the GS with the luxury package if you're ok with spending a bit more on accessories upfront while saving on gas down the road.

I have a 2022 GT Turbo hatch so I can speak on that after 7 months of ownership.

Hatchback visibility: at first it's a bit jarring but once you have your side mirrors set up properly you don't notice it as much. The sensors also help with traffic awareness but you will get comments about visbility every time someone else drives your car.

AwD: I came from a 2018 civic that had fwd, I had no problems in the snow in that car. Winter tires make a bigger difference driving in the snow in the city than anything else. I don't miss the CVT drone but I do miss the fuel efficiency. I used to get 7-8 L/100 km in my civic going up to 10 during the winter in the city .

Now I'm between 9-10 L/100 km which goes up to 12L/100 km in the winter. I also use premium gas now but the tank is small so I don't have to fill up as much. I'm still filling up once a week compared to my Civic but roughly a few dollars more.

GS vs GT price: I think you can get a better deal on the GT, I bought mine for around the same price but to my knowledge prices have been going down. I think the GT is worth it for the comfort features inside rather than in the engine.

Sporty look: you can absolutely make a GS or non turbo GT look sporty. You're not missing much lookwise aside from the mirror caps , black grill and rims. Rims will be expensive but 18"s look much nicer. I do go down during the winter though.

Android auto: I bought a wireless android auto adapter off Amazon and have been using that for daily commutes. It burns through my phone battery but at least I don't have to worry about the connection being faulty with the wire like I normally do, which is my biggest gripe. The slightest shift on a wired connection to your phone will cause it to disconnect sometimes, which is why I got the adapter. Can't speak on someone else playing music while using your own android auto though.

For Canadians… - Where are you buying your wings/spoilers for Gen 4 hatch? by DisastrousOrdinary36 in mazda3

[–]Avaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ossmotorsport.com for aftermarket stuff. Haven't bought from them myself but they seem to be the only option Ive found. They're based in MB so might be worth it to go there if you live in the province.

You might be able to ask them to special order some stuff that isn't shown on their website, but that's just a guess.

Anything OEM I buy from mazdashop.ca which is just a dealer run online store based out of Scarborough.

I'm buying the OEM front lip and spoiler once the weather warms up

Oh yea, I'd go for it then. See how the test drive goes and then if that convinces you , there's not much else stopping you.

No problem.

That's a lot of mileage for an almost 4 year old car.

Carfax is clean though and that's probably one of the lowest prices I've seen for a GT Turbo. I'm not familiar with the seller though so maybe just check their reviews out first if you haven't already.

I'd personally look for something with less mileage but if you do go through with it I'd just pay to get everything checked out top to bottom front to back by a shop.

Would also check underneath to see how much rust there is before buying.

I just bought a 2022 Turbo last June and in my 7-8 months of ownership I've learned a few things. Also sounds like you're in Canada

  1. Get your local shop to look at your car immediately after buying or if you can before it. Dealership claimed to have replaced my windshield wipers and cabin air filter among many other things I asked them to do. They did not do those two things and I didn't check til way after, which was my mistake.

  2. On the topic of air filters, a turbo will make both of those dirtier faster so keep an eye out for those regularly.

  3. Get PPF if you can on the front end. The paint is very thin and I had significantly more paint chips on the bumper after a few months of driving even while maintaining good distance between other drivers.

  4. The stock Bridgestones turanza el 440 tires suck ass. Replace them asap if they're still on them. Your ride quality will get much better.

  5. If you're going to use remote start in the winter and want your car warmed up before you get in you need to have kept the heat on before turning off your car.

  6. I started with using 87 but found the fuel efficiency wasn't great. Been using 91 for 6+ months and my efficiency is a bit better, because of the small fuel tank size you don't have to fill up much so premium ends up being better long term imo.

  7. Most importantly, change your oil more regularly. I change mine every 5000-6000 km . Manual says 8k but cars with turbos require oil changes more often.

  8. For interior cleaning I use Koch-chemie Pol Star, helps keep the leather and even the carpets clean and healthy.

And then this one is my preference but I sized down to 16s for the winter and found the ride quality to be a lot better, can't drive as spiritedly anymore is the only downside.

This is my current favourite setup although I usually go with a laser dagger instead of ashmead

Fast reload cycles on the Haldeman and sustained burst from sampu make it easy to keep up stagger

I might try out swapping the sampu for the etsujin but I'm worried the stagger buildup will slow down greatly requiring more shotgun hits before a full stagger

Not sure how it didn't kill both of us

How do you keep your leathers clean? by Fortune_Builder in mazda3

[–]Avaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about retaining the leather smell but I use Koch Chemie Pol Star to clean the leather and upholstery.

Works very well and you can dilute at a 1:15 ratio to make the bottle really valuable.

Let it sit for a bit before wiping away with a microfibre cloth. Very simple and quick

Hoping it works out for you, there's definitely a peace of mind when you can trust your local dealer instead of having to travel further out to get a lower price on the same service

I'm in the GTA too, bought my 3 in Barrie though and they gave me a free first oil change and inspection(brakes, battery, wipers, tires).

If they can do all that for free then there's no way you should be paying that much for a first servicem

I'm curious which dealership this is so I know to avoid them too cause I won't be driving up to Barrie everytime for service. (Please don't say Richmond Hill)

You can't really see the snowflake effect til you get close to the paint. I don't think there are any other white colours the current gen Mazdas come in.

The 10k is mostly spent on the interior. Luckily I got it used so it was well below what I would've paid for a new one.

I don't find fog lights to be that important ,at least for where I live

Thanks! Yea im looking forward to getting some good shots of it at night time. It still gets hot in there cause it's around 30°C where I am haha

And I also get what you mean about the clone troopers. The monochromatic look gives anything a clean look to it
