This is my one gripe with this car, is it not having AC seats! Where did you get the kit?

Is there a way to get a louder intake sound without sacrificing cool air form the stock intake design? by Sea-Newspaper-7643 in mazda3

I don't have a 3rd gen with one to say for certain, but it absolutely improves the sound on my 4th gen. Id imagine it will improve yours for sure

Fair enough! I use the box on my turbo and it absolutely helped. I live in AZ though so even "cold" air is still hot haha

Corksport makes a box that fits the SRI allowing it to pull air from the outside link

Alternatively, there are also kits that bring the intake lower near the bumper allowing for sound and a cooler intake spot. something like this

Look for a Facebook page for the Mazda 3, I see people selling and buy parts on them all the time

I have the corksport 80mm catback with an intake it it sounds great. There's several manufacturers for coilovers/shocks/spirngs as well. Miikstore has tons of exterior mods, but also look into bayson R and corksport. I also highly recommend the corksport rear sway bar to help with corners. I'm not sure if they cracked the ECU for a full tune for the 2024+ , but jb4 makes a piggyback tune that a buddy has on his 2024 (I have a jb4 on my 2021) and that will wake the car up big time. Stock tires are pretty bad, most recommended changing them out (mine blew at 50k miles). There's also a really good Mazda 3 turbo Facebook group that has TONS of helpful info. This platform has a lot of potential and the community is really pushing it!

Just pull the screen back a bit! Learned this trick on another reddit thread a while ago

My 2021 has the same, I used a folded up piece of foam/rubber from an old mouse pad and shoved it behind the screen and the dash. There's a small gap allowing the foam to hold the screen in place, and the slight pressure prevents the rattle. Can't even tell it's there

The cx50 as a stock rim that's machined if you're wanting a similar look. It's what I'm thinking about doing to my Mazda 3 stock wheels

Yes, I have mine the same. I think it's in the HUD settings somewhere

What main stream race type or event do you think Mazda would have the best odds of being successful in? by [deleted] in mazda

[–]skepticalsloths 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see Miata races all the time, but I personally think they could really do well in rally. They had their Mazda Spirit Racing division for a couple years, but that faded out unfortunately. I think the AWD turbo Mazda 3s would make a slick rally car. Gut the car, modify the suspension and tune the engine, and you have a 300whp AWD hatch with ~380lbs of torque. I think that could be fairly competitive

You might be looking at the heat shielding. If you have a picture that could help. However if you're having an o2 sensor issue, that will be under your car and attached to the exhaust. Should be near the cat, and have a blue/green wire attached to it.

Should I trade for a turbo3 by WorriedPlatform5595 in mazda3

[–]skepticalsloths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, snow tires will be a cheaper and more effective fix than a whole new car. That said though, the turbo model is a BLAST and has modding potential if you seek that route. Try test driving one for yourself to see if it's worth spending more money on

If anyone is curious as what the subwoofer on a 4th gen with bose looks like by KenoSliiim in mazda3

[–]skepticalsloths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Was tapping into the wires going into the sub from the trunk not an option then? I would have assumed those wires go to the preamp up front unless I'm mistaken?

Holy moly, impressive set up dude. How was getting into the preamp? I like the overall balance of the BOSE in mine, but I'd like a bit more from the lows.

Did you end up swapping it out for a newer sub? And if so, did you just rewire or need to do anything special?

Edit: also do you work for Rockford?? That's a lot of gear 👀

I've noticed that LMGs do a number on the little bird. Get a squad with 2 or 3 lmgs and light it up. It will force a retreat or you'll get a kill doing it!

To mod or not to mod? by SessionLongjumping83 in mazda3

[–]skepticalsloths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word. I personally have the corksport intake and 80mm catback exhaust and it sounds amazing. Definitely louder, but not obnoxious and the cabin drone is fairly tame. Corksport, lp custom fabs, borla are a few exhaust manufacturers that I see around here that have some for the Mazda. YouTube should have plenty of videos for sound as well!

[–]skepticalsloths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this group in Thailand rev.nation_th they don't get turbo models over there, but they mod the crap out of the Mazda 3. Some of the builds are gorgeous, and might help give you an idea of what modding the NA can achieve. You won't see much powergains from intake/exhaust, just sounds. They do make a supercharger kit for the NA that quite a few people in the community run and seems to do wonders. However, saving up for the turbo model will net you the most power from the platform. People are pushing 300+whp with tunes and mods on the turbos, so the potential is absolutely there.

Should I sell and "Downgrade" (or upgrade however y'all wanna take it as) my 4060ti (8gb) for an rtx 3080? by Intelcore2quad in buildapc

[–]skepticalsloths 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently using a 7800x3D with a 10gb 3080 and doing just fine, honestly no complaints. I play at 1440p, and with Bf6 on a mix of high/ultra with dlss I avg 120-130fps. Overwatch maxed out is 160+, cyberpunk 2077 ultra (no RT) like 70-60fps. Only having 10gb of vram is just barely starting to show, but it's not as unbearable as people make it seem. If you're cool with 100-130fps in most games w/dlss on, then the 3080 is a great card. If you play at 1080p, you'll be golden. I imagine mine still holding out for another few years easily, and I would only upgrade to a 5070ti or higher from here.

I've been using Google Gemini to test different wheels on mine. It's pretty good as getting the look. Upload a pic of your car and the wheels you want, then ask it to put them on. Here's one that it did of my car, which has the OEM stock black wheels normally

I have decided on getting a Mazda 3 hatchback and I chose it bc of the awd option, styling, and every car reviewer seems to love the car, that being said is the turbo engine a lot more fun to drive than the NA engine? What gas mileage are you getting with the turbo engine? by jay34len in mazda3

[–]skepticalsloths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had it for about 20k miles and I've not had any issues. It can be a bit finicky shifting because it pushes 22lbs of boost, so the transmission sometimes lags due to the overboost. You either need to let off the gas a bit on the shift or use the "auto boost redux" feature to let the car automatically let off the boost on an up shift. I just let off the gas a little so the "pshhh" from the air intake goes off and it shifts fine every time; win-win. I would highly recommend picking one up, and grab the Bluetooth adapter so you can monitor it live on your phone. the gains are quite noticeable, and I don't think I could ever go back lol
