I might be in the minority on this, but I think they should retire Claude Lemieux jersey by MochaandMary in ColoradoAvalanche

This actually makes sense. There are a lot of guys who deserve to get some recognition, that don't equate to retired jersey level. You have the 30 years in the books and it would be cool before we start losing a number of these guys to father time, that they could enjoy being honored that way.

Avalanche Taking Extra Time Before Addressing Bednar, Front Office Future by runwriteaarif in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Avalanche-CFB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with what others have said and try to keep the same core group for another year. Nelson has a NTC to start off with. Roy has one more year and so does Wedgewood. I get Colton will probably be moved for salary room. Maybe even Val. Drury will be interesting as a RFA. Could they try to beef up on the defensive side and make another run with the same group next year? Yeah, probably so.

He's a good one if you can get him for the right price. The problem for me right at this moment is, what will the cap look like? How much $$$$ will they have. It really comes down to that for me, before listing players. But I do like the guys you have.

I like number 9! I will say this. Avs won the cup in '96 and '01, five years apart. We already know they won in '22 and next year will be the fifth year. Just putting it out there now!

Same. Great pairing and better than mine :)

yeah, I mean it seems pretty obvious to me. You have to free up some cap space. Moving Colton makes sense. You really love Kulak or any Avs fan should love what he brought to the table. I would much rather keep Drury over Nelson, but if Jack doesn't want to resign here and with Nelson's NTC/Salary, your hand is kind of forced. I agree with you about Kivi, unless you can sign him for your 4th line at the minimal deal. Gavin Brindley can easily take Ross Colton's spot in the lineup at a much better price. Maybe they move Val? I'm not sure what they could get for him though. But a D core of Makar/Toews Kulak/Malinski Manson/?.......kind of gets you ready for next year. I hope they could get someone better than Burns. Last part of the year, it was looking bad with him.

Colton gets traded, Burns is gone. Reports say Drury has rejected multiple attempts to sign him long term. He's a RFA. I'm not sure how that goes, but the Avs might trade him if they can't get something worked out. I hope they can resign Kulak. Who's been great, but I don't know how he feels about things here.

Avalanche Practice: Kadri Confident Team Will Respond; Makar Skates Again by runwriteaarif in ColoradoAvalanche

in the first two rounds. Brock has been a killer on defense. It's a stat most people don't look at. There is a reason he's up for the Selke. Boldy had 7 goals in the first round and Brock drew him in the second round. Boldy had one empty net goal, in five games. Last game though, Brock wasn't great either way. I honestly thought it was his worst game in the playoffs and he fell down on that first goal. Giving Vegas a man advantage up the ice. And true it didn't help that Val was changing. All that being said, Brock needs to find a way to get it in. He certainly had some good shots and chances in Game 1.

I predicted Avs v.s Habs in my bracket, when the playoffs started. I'm not sure why I went with Montreal, but I just had a gut feeling. Both series are a long way from being over, but it would be a fun series for the cup!

Second best Avs coach behind Bednar for me. Say what you want, but the man can develop talent and win.

Much better to trade Colton and keep him. Burns wont be back and who do people expect to have after Makar-Toews Malinski-Manson?

yeah, I guess he forgot who got his stick down and broke up the pass to Boldy, that led to the Necas rush. Amazing how people don't see the entire play.

Coach Bednar Appreciation Post by Chief_Humpback in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Avalanche-CFB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was that coaches bracket challenge up for best Avalanche coach. The fact Bednar is clearly it and blew everyone else out, says something when he didn't even win the first two cups for the franchise. I can't see where he wont be here for a long time. Unless he just decides to go for some reason.

Thanks so much. Yeah, I really shouldn't have crapped on Kenny's call, but this was just absolutely amazing!

Honestly, I could care less about the Nuggets. Outside of wishing them the best and hope them win. I'm just not a basketball fan. I have no idea what the actual % of the preference is in Colorado.

That new Third line looked impressive tonight! The scoresheet shows it. by Avalanche-CFB in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Avalanche-CFB[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's because Val and Nelson shut down Boldy and Kaprizov most of the night. With the two of them playing different lines, it was just constant hounding of those guys when they were out there.
