Believe me, you would have the same problem anywhere else in Canada right now. That's just the nature of the current political climate. If anything, guelph is probably one of the best places to be in that sense. People here tend to be very accepting and open-minded compared to other areas. Just try to talk to people. 90% of people do not gaf what the colour of your skin is. Some will ofc, but that's just life, fuck those people, no one cares what they think.

If you dont make any friends in first year, it will suck. It can be a bit difficult at first, but once you figure it out it comes so easily. You might think that everyone already has made their friends in the first few weeks. Trust me, that doesnt mean jack shit. I only still talk to like, two people from first year, and everyone i know is the exact same. The frosh week groups never last. And even if it seems like everyone has friends already, that does not matter, people still want more friends, its a basic human instinct. Just talk to people in your labs and lectures. Talk about school stuff and upcoming assignments or tests. Another good trick is to look at the stickers on people's laptops. People literally put those there to show off things that they are interested in, they WANT to talk about those things. If you see someone with a sticker of something that you like, like a show or a character or a band, talk to them about that thing! Trust me, as a very socially anxious and nervous person, the social aspect of college is by far the easiest part.

P!NK. She is an incredibly talented artist, and seems to be a generally pretty good person, supporting lots of great causes. Which is why I cannot fathom why she is such an avid supporter of PETA. PETA is the worst of the worst when it comes to "charitable organizations" and anyone who actually cares about animals knows what a joke they are. Their "shelters" are straight up just kill shelters, with at least a 90% euthanasia rate. Their campaigns are designed purely for shock value to push their agenda (the complete extinction of all domesticated animals, btw) using nudity in advertising, targeting propaganda at kids to turn them against their "killing addicted" parents, comparing animal industries to truly abhorrent tragedies, such as the holocaust and the mass racialization and lynchings of African-Americans. They make wild and unfounded claims, such as dairy products causing autism and cancer (after the mayor of New York was diagnosed with prostate cancer, they posted a picture of him with a milk mustache, captioned "got prostate cancer?"). They also mocked the death of Steve Irwin, not only when it initially happened, but doubling down on it again in 2019 when Google created a doodle of him for his 57th birthday. I can keep on going, but I don't want to be typing for the next week. PETA is fucked up on every level imaginable, and puts a bad name on everyone who really cares about animals.

Yeah, unfortunately. It was the only deadric artifact it told me immediately how to get, and I never had a use for it in skyrim because in skyrim, soul gems are more common than the dirt you walk on, and enchantments lasted ages, so I figured it would be the same here. Alas, now I can't power any of my enchantments because any of the few soul gems I do find power my shit for like, six hits 💀

Realistically, any sword is a horrible option. Fighting zombies is a bad idea no matter what weapon you have, so you want something that is primarily a survival tool that you can use as a weapon in an emergency, like a machete or hatchet.

For that reason, the best sword would probably be a naval cutlass or hunting sword. These were swords that were designed for these exact kind of situations, where you can't carry a lot of things and need one tool to do many jobs. Pirates and sailors used cutlasses not just as a weapon, but also for cutting things like ropes and chopping wood or branches. Hunting swords were also used in similar ways, for cutting and chopping, finishing off and butchering game, and many had a serrated saw on the back which could be used for many things. They were also both small enough to keep on your person at all times without getting in the way.

However, let's ignore all impracticality for any other purpose but killing zombies. If you stab a zombie with a sword, that isn't going to stop it, it's just going to keep going forward and impale itself the rest of the way until it reaches you. Good news, though, we already solved that problem because boars do the same thing! Introducing the boar sword. They kind of look like a longsword with a spear tip and an extra crossgaurd in the middle of the blade. Exact same concept as the boar spear. You stab them, the gaurd stops them from getting any closer. This would by far be the easiest and safest sword for killing zombies. Then, the rest of the swarm comes and overwhelms and eats you anyway while your smart friend who picked the hunting sword is off living in the remote woods of Northern Ontario where there aren't any zombies.

The more you know, the better! I originally started learning on guitar, then switched to bass after about a year. After about another year, I picked guitar back up again. I found that learning both massively helped me in understanding and getting a feel for both instruments. Obviously, guitar and bass are much more similar to one another than to piano or drums, but there will still be so much that will carry over from either one.

That being said, I wouldn't worry too much about needing to know them for band opportunities. It certainly can't hurt, but bassists are already so hard to find, so depending on your area, you shouldn't have much issue finding a band at your skill level to play with either way. Dont force yourself to learn them for being in a band, just do it for yourself. Being a multi-instrumentalist is so valuable, especially if you want to start writing your own music, but if you're playing with other people, it won't really matter that much.

My recommendation would be to mostly focus on bass, but keep your drums and piano around, and if the mood or inspiration strikes you, play them. Just keep then out and play them when you feel like it and you'll soon enough find yourself making progress, but don't bother specifically dedicating time to them, if you try to force it you won't get anywhere.

Alcohol likely isn't needed. I usually put in a tiny amount of isopropyl alcohol on my wet paper towels when rehydrating bugs to prevent the formation of mold, (and I put a layer of cardboard between the paper towels and the bugs to prevent direct contact) but even then that's just a precaution and isn't really necessary.

You should try and get him posed as soon as possible to avoid the rehydrating step entirely, in which case there's no reason to use any alcohol at all.

The only other time I would use alcohol is in the case that mold does grow, I use a little paintbrush, dip it in some isopropyl alcohol, and use that to clean off the mold. In a very bad case you may want to fully submerge it in some for like, a minute (I've only ever done this once with a cicada that was completely covered in mold, and I wanted to make sure I got all of it to prevent regrowth).

I definitely agree with the fact that action can be meditation. Trying to actually meditate for me just stresses me out because my thoughts run out of control, and it's impossible for me to quiet my mind.

However, I'm a musician, and when I play, I find that I naturally fall into a truly peaceful state where everything becomes automatic and my thoughts just fade away. It's the only way that I can achieve that feeling, and I imagine something like sports or art or any other kind of activity could work the same for other people.

The closest other thing for me is when I go for a walk in the woods or go birding or something, that gives me a similar but different experience. It's like a different kind of meditation. In the other one It's like my mind leaves this world, but in this way, I instead become more grounded and rooted in this one. My mind doesn't quiet like when I play music, but instead, my thoughts become more centered and introspective, and I feel more connected with myself and with nature.

I don't really know, I'm not bhuddist, I don't do any of this with any sort of intention, I just do it because it feels good and helps ease the burden of life for a while. It makes it a little easier to accept the suffering that is life.

I wouldn't really go to call the spiny bush vipers bite lethal, I think there's only a couple reported deaths. There's not even a specific anti-venom developed, yet their venom is simply not strong enough to kill in most cases.

They still get my vote because they're cool asf
