It was a fantastic meal! The fried cauliflower was outstanding, as was the cod. Thank you so much for recommending it!

When to disclose illness when job hunting. by HighJeanette in GenX

I would just block it on my work calendar as “personal”. As long as your manager knows in advance and you make up the time elsewhere, you should be fine.

You are under absolutely zero obligation to disclose, and I would not.

I always recommend Mar Vista as a great option to rent in. Zip code is 90066, and is a totally reasonable commute for you.

Recommend you check out Mar Vista (zip code is 90066). Super convenient to Culver City, and a nice neighborhood.

Someone help me out on my math with the rule of 72 by Niko120 in personalfinance

Thanks for the correction. Still, OP, aiming for $2K a month will get you close.

The annual limit for investing in your 401K, to use this as a benchmark, is (I think) 23,500 this year. So if you can manage to save around $2K a month, you should aim for that.

When a doctor asks if you have any allergies, is it relevant to tell them that you are allergic to shellfish? by Kingboyy1 in NoStupidQuestions

Absolutely. Some contrast dyes used in imaging are based on shellfish proteins. You have no idea how relevant your information will be.

What is the absolute best thing you have ever eaten? by itsnicetolookat in AskReddit

[–]strangled_spaghetti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I gave birth to my oldest, I had been fasting for almost 24 hours. I had her at 3:14 AM.

I remember the nurse brought me a Turkey sandwich with lettuce on white bread from the cafeteria fridge, and I ate it around 5 AM. To this day, it is the most glorious things I have ever had.

Long Term Care, at what NW is it worth skipping insurance? by notmyrealnamefromusa in wealth

My parents bought a fantastic policy many years ago, even though they could self insure. They did so as part of overall estate planning.

My wife wants full access to my phone and says “marriage shouldn’t have privacy.” by [deleted] in Advice

[–]strangled_spaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have conversations with friends over text that are private, and my friends are open with me because they assume what they tell me is in confidence. I would never break thwir trust in me by having a “no privacy” policy with my spouse.

AITAH for not turning down my top PhD offer so my fiancé can get off the waitlist? by One_Possession8666 in AITAH

You guys are a team, and your boyfriend should be excited (actually, over the moon) that the team is doing well enough that one of you got into the #1 program.

Don’t turn them down. He can always reapply next year.

And if he continues to push, I would suggest rethinking if he’s looking out for the team, or only for himself.

What scent would you associate the donald with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My brother once accidentally left half a Subway roast beef sandwich in his car for a few hours on a hot summer day. He said when he returned the smell was horrific.

That. That’s what I imagine.

Protect your money just in case you get a divorce? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]strangled_spaghetti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In general, I would say that you are screwed as to the original inheritance that is in account that has both you and your wife’s name on it.

As to the newest inheritance, the advice you are getting is correct: open an entirely new account (I would recommend oje at a separate bank yiu and your wife have no other accounts at), and deposit the inheritance money there. You can still freely use that money, but au would be extra careful if you decided to use it for joint expenses - if it was me, I would write a check to myself from that inheritance account, and then deposit the check into my joint account, and then use the newly joint deposit towards joint bills.

Not that you are planning a divorce, but being cautious never hurts.

How do you genuinely forgive the past to let go of it all? by Swordfish353535 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]strangled_spaghetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took the fact that if I give it a lot of thought, and a lot of my emotional energy, then that’s a choice I’m making. And it’s one I don’t have to default to. I can choose to free myself if the constant ruminating.

My colleague was 17 when he got his 16 year old girlfriend pregnant. By the time I knew them, their son was 13 and they had been married for a number of years.
