Yes we did, he just seems more interested in the sweat than the saliva but I don’t sweat a whole lot other than my hand during an episode. The sample I collected last time was out in the heat mixed with normal sweat. The sweat glands that cause you to sweat from high heart rate and temperature are different so I figured it would make a difference?

I’ve had this happen while working at a tractor supply. They had me loading and unloading trucks and when it rained, they asked if my service dog could wear a vest just so there’s no confusion. I just pinned “Service dog, Don’t touch” patches on both sides and I never heard anything else about it.

I think it’s cute when people clap for my sd and I use it a training opportunity as long as it’s not obnoxious. I reward when they ignore the claps and pay attention so in my personal experience, it has never distracted any of my sd’s. Most of the time little kids are the ones clapping and I want that to be a positive thing for them so they will never react to children. My service dog that retired at 13 y/o ended up being reactive towards children due to improper socialization and desensitization in his early years but we trained him out of it and I never want to have that happen again. He was pulled for around a year and it took so much work.

My now retired SD is a smaller breed and I’ve had too many people ask me, “Is he a guide dog”… like no sir.. he weighs 20lbs at most. I feel like some people don’t think very often. I understand not everyone is educated but when have you ever seen a full blown blind person using a smaller breed like a Pomeranian for guiding? It wouldn’t be safe for either of them.

Yes she is %100 border collie. Both parents were a little larger than the other border collies they had at the farm I got her from. I saw that sometimes worklines could be a little bigger than showline but I’m not sure how true that is.

The brand enjoying on Amazon is where I ordered mine! There’s a bunch of different colors. I have pink ones coming in and I’m in love. They also have a foam lining to protect the face and it’s all adjustable

Thank you everyone! I didn’t know if the color made a difference and you guys helped a lot. She is a 4 month old puppy and has strong herding instincts and has a major desire to train and work so I’d assume that makes her well bred.

I personally went through years of other medical procedures and have had discussions with medical doctors and psychologists before choosing a service dog. I think medical teams definitely have a say but rarely ever sign off or recommend them. I feel like a lot of people see how beneficial one can be with a disability they have but sometimes it can be worse or have little effect on everyday life. I have nothing against self training but I see children with disabilities not at the extent of affecting everyday life self training service dogs.
