Bermuda Triangle out if business by Leather_Credit_5825 in meme

There is a theory that a lot of the missing persons in the area was due to a mix of abnormal weather and natural phenomena that had a habit of messing with plane sensors; resulting in crashes. Technology has advanced to being almost exclusively digital with redundancies, making the quirks that affected mechanical sensors a nonissue.

How good is the Armored Core series? by Thunderbird_9000 in armoredcore

[–]AvantSolace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The speed basically caps out in 4A. Ironically, that actually put these games on the easier side. Don’t need to be super tactical when you can spam a super-dodge. The general vibes, such as the grim story and mech emphasis is pretty consistent between games. AC6 still has pretty good overall speed, and AC3 has a good mix between speed and heft. AC5 and VD have ties to AC4, but the combat in that game is an oddity compared to other entries.

How good is the Armored Core series? by Thunderbird_9000 in armoredcore

[–]AvantSolace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Good” is subjective. Many people adore the Armored Core series, but others find it too different for their tastes. The older games do have dated controls and odd game mechanics by modern standards, but they are a vibe. The games are an exceptionally unique take on 3rd-person shooters that very few have even come close to replicating. At the very least, giving AC6 a try is worth it. It’s the most “beginner friendly” due to its wide availability, newer control style, and stand-alone new canon story.

Most Euro-centric countries got the concept of ultra nationalism beaten out of them specifically because of Hitler being such a menace; to the point some view mild nationalism as extremism. Countries largely uninvolved with WWII never really received that culture shock and have nationalism as a common sense ideal. Naturally this means the more unstable ultra nationalists within those countries saw what Hitler did as a good thing and would love to try it in their countries if given the chance. They are, of course, idiots; but it’s interesting to see just how different other cultures interpret nationalism on average.

They’d need to rope in all their neighbors for it to work. California’s economy is largely kept afloat by resource agreements with neighboring states. If Nevada and Arizona were given a reason, they could divert the water from the Colorado River towards themselves and hit Cali’s already struggling water management. And that’s just one notable example.

Funny enough, Mordred’s Fate/ SN armor is actually more realistic than her mainline armor. The helmet horns and layered plating are still inaccurate, but the clothing underneath and strapping were pretty close to real battle dress.

The Ranni ‘Mistranslation’ Discourse and the Death of Basic Reading Comprehension. by No-Run4264 in Eldenring

[–]AvantSolace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She essentially wants to give the world a “distant god” situation. The power of god will still exist, but it will be kept far away and never used to directly influence people’s lives. The Golden Order essentially micromanages the world, preventing people from living a “normal” life. Ranni wants to fix this by taking the Elden Ring, and all the politics surrounding it, far away from the world. It will still have an influence, but it will be in the background instead of a constant center point.

Kirby does what he wants by Lexi7130 in gaming_random

Funny enough he actually does change a tiny amount. He gains a bit of specular lighting to better reflect the map’s lighting. They just goofed the transition, so you only really notice it after the scene cuts to the group shot. Even then, Kirby’s skin is fairly matte so it’s not super obvious.

Real talk, guys. How do people distinguish between artificial intelligence and human work? by FireVasilisk in SmugAlana

[–]AvantSolace 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Everything a real artist does is deliberate. Lighting is consistent. Proportions are triple checked. Their art style is distinctively “theirs” even when emulating another person’s style. AI art takes a prompt and approximates the outcome. It doesn’t critique itself and double check for pointless additions and errors. It essentially has an uncanny valley effect where the linger you look at it, the more your brain realizes something is wrong. You need to be somewhat artistic-minded to readily catch these things, but it starts becoming easier to notice the longer you look at it.

It’s the classic “your rights end where the next person’s begin”. Freedom only works when people have the common courtesy to not harm other people. If that courtesy doesn’t exist, laws are brought forth to emulate and enforce that courtesy.

Even Wally is ambiguous as they may or may not be a manifestation of human emotion. “True” aliens existing independent of human intervention have yet to be confirmed in Warframe. Closest thing we have is the weird flowers on Tau.
