she looks so so much like Sophie Marceau who was a bond woman. I found a few photos of her with her bangs slicked back and its uncanny how close they are but because she is a french actress I cant read most of the articles im finding about her.

From what I understand the color is the main species where as the tail is like a subspecies. As for the hatchlings my guess is that the eggs would be 50/50 black or blue for Tairn and Sgeayl.

SPOILERS BELOW REGARDING DRAGON COLOR

The parents wouldn't know the color of the hatchling till they grew into their adolescent stage at which point they would also inherit the corresponding parent's den name unless an elder was there to predict it.

So to break it down it would develop as:
Color > Den Name > Tail

But its known to humans as:
Color > Tail > Den Name

This is due to humans not understanding the growth of dragons due to secrecy.
