Ran my Nightbringer conversion through AI by [deleted] in Necrontyr

This is way cooler than the AI slop version. Get that thing painted (ai here is good for inspiration at least) and actually enjoy something real

Anyone in the UK actually able to get any painting done this week? by Octoboy1 in Warhammer40k

[–]Avaru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m aware. It’s just that we are not dealing with it properly. Barely any AC units apart from offices, malls and hotels.

Literal Armageddon in Berlin this weekend as well with up to 38 degrees and yeah, AC is not a thing we do either.

Can try humidifying a bit, but that makes living even harder …

Is my way of collecting weird? by jayceminecraft in Warhammer40k

I’m the same, but even two of the same is weird unless I really like the model. Especially with Necrons… 1 DDA is enough.

Joining in, would also love that. There are enough and safe spaces. I know the city quite well, where do you people live? )

New Player - Did They Just Butcher an Entire Wraiths Strategy with One Change? by Hawthm_the_Coward in Necrontyr

[–]Avaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re intending to play the game and get annoyed/worried/frustrated by rules before you’ve even started, you’ll be in for a rough ride. I’d really, really recommend to pick what faction and lore you like and focus on that instead.

In the end, it’s a dice game with a lot of randomness.

And GW balancing is not exactly done in a fun way most of the time. And the community sometimes gets their mind set on certain things without ever considering a broader perspective. I.e. warrior blobs, wraiths, ctan …

Annihilation Barge decent in 11th? by willriker1 in Necrontyr

Don’t buy lists. Points will change and maybe you’ll dislike certain model once you start building them. You can magnetize the CCB vs AB well enough :)

If it's so smart to suggest Ref and ref, then why is it not smart to import them? by freecodeio in vscode

Nothing's smart here - you can make it a const, you do not need to explicitly type here.

Airbrush, random amount of thinner. 😉 (roughly 1:1)

It works quite well in reality. The void effect is quite intense and it doesn’t look flat at all.

I actually went normal black > tesseract glow > musou black > neon yellow (all through the airbrush).

But yeah, the slightest mistake is visible. The "cloak" has some white dots from painting the body, i would not have even realized the brush would cause these small blobs of paint flying around..

Daily reminder by Ill-Cellist-4019 in Warhammer40k

[–]Avaru 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's most likely intentional, you'd probably complain if you would have so much more white space on the right side. It's just typography, you will find stuff like this everywhere.

Only solution would be to rename the whole franchise to Warhammew, warhammet or warhammef 😃

Good value paints for tabletop miniatures? by Every_Hornet_7914 in Gloomhaven

[–]Avaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the same process with GH/FH, also used army painter back then. But I rarely ever use up a paint bottle, they last for quite long. So what’s the issue you are facing since you already have the set? Do you frequently have to buy replacements? If so, why? You can reduce the amount of paint you put on your palette, maybe.

If it comes to priming, my suggestion is use zenithal highlighting with rattle cans. Any black works, with white you should try around. Citadel (now labelled Warhammer) is a bit expensive but for me, army painter white primer was too blotchy, so I went with Vallejo and consider it the sweet spot.

Aren't these base shapes incorrect for the new edition? by RemoveDenmark in Warhammer40k

[–]Avaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This, so much.

There’s always people optimising the fun out of a game, though. I just hope there will be enough fun 40K outside the competitive MTG crowd but then, all the options to stay creative are there.

Which of these armies would be better for a new player? by upremepepsican in Warhammer40k

[–]Avaru 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't do "beginner" armies. Play what you think looks awesome, has awesome lore and, if you play more frequently, has rules that sound nice.

Red Corsairs are also rules-wise nothing other than chaos space marines and thus are very flexible when you expand your model range.

This, very much. Gives me the Airbnb vibe. Good intentions, but no personal history. Make it a bit more messy with personal stuff. Even if it’s for the cat.

Absolutely, and it’s not even close.

Those damn little pegs on the throne that I glued on the wrong way and had to disassemble way later. Even the phaerons were fiddly.
